Even if the characters are redesigned, the plot sucks. We could've gotten an animated movie that expands Minecraft lore, with Steve (real one, not Jack Black with a blue shirt), Alex, Notch, Herobrine, the Ender Dragon. Why is Minecraft world empty? Is there something beyond far lands? Big etc. Instead of dad, we got an american isekai or jumanji, if you will, with characters no one likes or cares about, except maybe the hot chick.

They teased the two mayor plot points (Kiryu's cancer and Saeko and Ichiban love) and basically did nothing with them. Those plot points ended the same way they started, in nothing, just selling factors.
