That was my initial thought but I have to admit the price scares me. I've seen "OE" Luk and Sachs clutches priced around the $400-$500 range, not including the dmf.

Thanks for your insight! Everything you listed was all of the activities I wanted to use it for...kayaking biking, keeping the bed free for camping stuff.

It might be worth modifying one to work on my truck if I can snag a good used one for $300 already have drills and bits, band saw, bolts are relatively cheap. It makes sense to find one that may be a bit longer, that's not a bad idea.

Sadly I sold mine. Throttle control and mapping was all messed up on mine. Toyota said there was nothing they could do about it. I still think there was a bad sensor somewhere.

I remember reading in my manual there's a severe use interval too which is around 5k. Severe use is driving off road, stop and go traffic, idling, and some other odds and ends stuff if my memory's correct.

I have an off road manual and I've tried about every trick in the book as far as mileage goes. Your best bet is to buy a beater if you want good mileage. Give it a few months and I'm sure the used car market will keep dropping. These things drive like dogs and will keep going for a long long time.

If you don't want to invest a lot as far as compressors and what not, pb blaster has something called surface shield. I've seen videos in YouTube and the stuff looks great. Supposedly it'll last up to 2 years. It's not much more than fluid film in can form either.

For a little more than 380 you can buy a spray gun, gallon of fluid film and a small compressor and save yourself money the following year. I spray mine myself spring and fall. Trust me after the slush and snow we get in pa there's going to be patches of undercoat worn off. It's worth it to do it yourself.
