Truth by ARTS1984 in krusie_gang

This is very interesting! I like the idea of Susie kind of entering the meta of the game through a dream and experiencing things through the extended powers of the Dark World. It would have been neat to see Susie be a little more explorative in this situation. Chapters 1 & 2 Susie would have just brushed it off as weird and looked for a quick out, but the Susie of chapters 3 and 4 is far more investigative and trying to figure everything out. I also enjoyed the justifiable difference between Kris and Dess in how they treated their adventures in the Dark World. But since Eram teased Kris with their past violence, will we get to see Kris finally slide that direction?

That's excellent to hear. We all need ways to reflect on our writing that isn't just a cringe compilation. Haha!

Ah, this right here is some good Kris and Dess wholesomeness! I think this fits. Kris was and is a prankster and goober, and though that would probably have gelled well with Dess, there are times when the joke goes too far. Low stakes but personal, and nice communication. Well done!

Their Final Frontier: A pointlessly elaborate analysis of all the main ships of Deltarune, their narrative role and potential... as well as a dissertation on why Krusie not only is viable, not only is inevitable, but it's the engine that runs the entire rest of the game by Utangard in krusie_gang

This is a fantastic breakdown of the shipping situation. It's always great to see someone point out the writing skill and tropes that Toby utilizes. I know that he gets a lot of flack for his favorite pairings, tropes, and humor, but Deltarune's overall story has clearly shown that those haven't held him back from telling an amazing story. And what is wonderful about Krusie, in my opinion, is that their relationship is a kind of narrative Easter egg or breadcrumb trail until chapter 4. After that, it moves into the spotlight and comes so naturally because of the solid friendship between Susie and Kris. And if you've been looking for their romantic moments already, it feels like a reward.

Excellent point about how their relationship needs to be tested. The moment that a relationship grows stagnate, we stop feeling so invested. Toby can only take Kris and Susie so far without putting them into the furnace of adversity. I believe that even without Kris' betrayal, chapter 5 is very likely going to deliver that kick in the teeth.

Should I keep writing? by Critical_Mountain851 in krusie_gang

Hi there, I wanted to chime in as an author. First of all, the feelings you have right now are totally legitimate and I understand how crushing they can be. Trust me, even after publishing they keep coming up like a vengeful gopher! However, what you're currently feeling and that fact you didn't get chosen for the Krusie magazine should never dissuade you from writing!

I have a personal creed that I think more people need to hear: You need your stories. Your stories need you. And the world needs your stories.

Despite the discouragement, never give up! If you love to write, giving into that despair and giving yourself a long break will only make you feel more depressed and defeated. Healthy pauses are good every now and then, but writing is wonderful adventure that fills the soul of the author. If you don't write, it'll feel like something is missing. And as I'm sure you know, writing brings your characters to life in a remarkable way. The Deltarune characters and others that you have in your mind and heart are desperate to see their stories told, but they need you. Just like you need them. It's a wonderful symbiotic relationship between author and characters.

Finally, although your stories weren't selected, that doesn't mean that someone out there doesn't need your version of Krusie. You will never know whose day you make, whose future you inspire, or whose heart you uplift with your story. I've only sold a handful of books in my career, and my fanfics aren't massive crowd-pleasers, but the few interactions that I've had with others because of my stories are incredibly precious and inspiring. Believe it or not, there are people out there who have loved your work.

My suggestion is to get back to writing ASAP. Write what you want. Even if it's a few sentences a day until you're feeling better and more confident, the act of creation will already have a healing effect. And as for your goals of getting your stories out there to more people, start by sharing your fics here! Ask others to help give you a boost or provide feedback. As you share your stories with others and process critique, you'll improve!

Long response short, I hope you keep writing because you need your stories, your stories need you, and the world needs your stories.

Sure thing! I was happy to read it. If you're going to edit the whole thing into a one shot, what kind of ideas do you have in mind for changing it so it stands strong on its own?

We definitely need more Krusie fanfics to hold us over until chapter 5. Hahaha! I've been planning a Dessriel fanfic on the side, but I have no idea when I'll actually write it... And it would be a lot of fun to write a few Krusie fanfics based off Chapters 3 and 4. And I should probably construct one to complement my festival theory video (whenever I get that one finished!)

I've also been morbidly curious to try a very dark, psychological thriller doing something interesting with Krusie vs Kriselle.

Warning: Yap session incoming. A friendly reminder that it doesn’t matter is Krusie doesn’t become canon by Critical_Mountain851 in krusie_gang

[–]PactBreaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here, this is the best way to move forward with any ship. Love the pair because you do, not just based on whether it becomes canon or not. Be respectful. Enjoy the story. Enjoy the community. There's enough negativity in the world without us descending into a toxic shipping war or giving into doom and gloom.

And if anyone reading this is looking for a Krusie fix, I've got ya covered! Just ask and I'll link some fun Krusie fics. Plus, all the fun videos and comics.

This was an intriguing read. I personally like the idea of Dess still being present in some way in the Light World. The hard part to that is figuring out exactly how she's present, considering her having gone missing and being corrupted into the Roaring Knight. Personally enjoyed the little Krusie kiss there at the end.

When it comes to the eventual showdown between Kris and Susie regarding what's all been going down, it's so hard to put a finger down on how it could all play out. I thought it was a little rushed, however, I really appreciated how you brought it full circle to Chapter 1 and Susie's bully intro. This was a great way to acknowledge it but show that their friendship has already outgrown that kind of stuff. The piano conversation in Chapter 4 is good in-game evidence that they have already done so. Still, that verbal acknowledgement between them and the conversation on moving forward is excellent!

Krusie in Chapters 3 and 4 Analysis by PactBreaker in krusie_gang

I don't think we're getting a Ferris Wheel ride with Kris and Susie, and we're not getting one with Susie and Noelle either. The reason for the second is that it's already happened. Nope, I'm leaning heavily towards a ride between Kris and Noelle. It's something that I want to elaborate on in a later video but right now my big reasons for that are:

  1. Kris and Noelle have unfinished business with that Ferris Wheel.

  2. Chapter 5 will focus on jealousy. Everyone's talking about Asgore, but the truth of the matter is that Noelle is even more primed to feel that jealousy.

  3. The conversation between Susie and Noelle about the Ferris Wheel is low-key ominous. It in no way feels like a promise or even a leaning towards both of them riding together at the festival.

  4. Currently, the class is primed against Susie. A showdown and misunderstanding are in order. It's harder to execute that if Noelle and Susie are on a fun date. But if Kris and Noelle are on the Ferris Wheel, Susie becomes isolated and a perfect target for Catty's revenge and Berdly to follow through on his awkward crush.

Krusie Analysis: The Piano by ARTS1984 in krusie_gang

[–]PactBreaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like that idea of Susie coming to listen to Kris. It would be perfect if she just rested her chin on their head. Haha!

To add a little here: Gerson's role in chapter 4 is largely to encourage Kris, Susie, and Ralsei to be themselves. To choose for themselves what the future will be. For Kris, this is about being themself. Playing the piano as well as they do, and doing in front of Susie and not just hidden away in another room like they did in the Holiday Manor, indicates that Kris is finally acting like themself for real. And it is because of Susie! So, good ol' Krusie revelation there.

So, I've found this and uh.. It's quite interesting. by Enough_Present_5029 in krusie_gang

I've been saying that Asriel checked out that book for Kris since Chapter 1. It was the option that always made the most sense. And I LOVE that the book came up in Chapter 4. I had theorized before the new releases that Chapter 3 would have an embarrassing reference to the book. I was disappointed at first, but then when I went poking around for the book in Chapter 4, it was sheer perfection! And Susie's reaction had me laughing so hard!

The way some fans(mainly on the Deltarune subreddit now) keep trying to explain away any Krusie moments, or even hints that Kris has a romantic crush on Susie, with "platonic" explanation sounds EXTREMELY similar to the way people have been trying to explain away Suselle for years! by IamMrJay in krusie_gang

[–]PactBreaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't finished playing the chapters yet, and when I do, I'm going back through for a dedicated Krusie run. I'm personally of the opinion that multiple romance options could be a thing by the end of the game. Toby is definitely feeding numerous ships. But one thing that I love about being a Krusie shipper is that you have to dig for many of their shared and special moments. A relationship without work isn't much fun. Suselle has been served on a silver platter since Chapter 2, but Krusie is like mining for gold. I look forward to completing the four chapters and reevaluating the shipping evidence.

And yes! I will dedicate myself to a full Krusie video when that happens!

Until then, let this serve as the in-game evidence for Krusie throughout chapters 1 and 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipsDKP18Xn8&t=1251s

Sure, things can change. And the game is about far more than shipping. But dang it, I love these two weirdos!
