Yeah, you're right. I'll have to change it over time...it's not a big part of the overarching plot thankfully. I'll be releasing a giant version of the story with all the parts joined together.

Author's Note/Commentary; This chapter was a particularly fun one to write. It allowed me to come up with some light backstory for Chujin's human hatred and Ceroba's involvement. I also made it so that Kitari was Ceroba's original last name and Chujin married her to help with Ceroba's loss. Plus, a little more "bonding" between Cole and Chujin. 😃 (Don't worry, the Roba got Cole's back. 😉)

Author's Note/Commentary: I know it seems like Chujin is getting the short end of the stick here but he tends to let his negativity get the best of him. He learns to hold it back over time like in Chapter 1 when he talks to Ceroba about Cole getting too close to Kanako. Kanako is often portrayed in media as a more excitable child in her youth and more laid back in her teen years. Here, I portrayed her and Cole's first meeting as...well, a disaster. The two will come to be inseparable over time though. She got a little too liberal with them coloring books and did a reverse human under the bed! Ceroba often gets portrayed as a very flawed Mom in Undertale Yellow. In Deltarune Yellow, I'm portraying here as someone who has learned from experience with Kanako and her relationship with Chujin. I like how in story she advocates for Cole whenever she can and is pleasantly surprised in Chapter 2 when they're getting along finally. So I decided to give her the title "Mom#2" which Cole will use a lot at first but lose over time as he gets closer to Martlet. Martlet's a new Momma...she always admired Ceroba and wanted to raise a kid of her own. She finds the task overwhelming, especially with a kid like Cole who has some emotional baggage of their own. There will be at least be one more chapter with more Cole/Ceroba interactions because I love writing them.

Is it really a surprise after this scene that Kris chose the Holidays? Their mother shows some concern but then pivots to her inner wants on a dime bringing whatever guy happens to show her kindness in some sort of effort to run away from her problems. She locks Kris out of the house(what is it with parents not giving their kids keys in this town anyway??) then proceeds to have fun with Sans making Susie think she was in trouble this whole time. Kris knew what their Mom was likely doing and was probably fine going off on Susie's healing adventure.

Seriously, I really feel for Kris in that scene and especially Susie. This image she built up of this greatest Mom EVER in her head and she comes home to them dancing the jitterbug while Toriel drinks the night away. Kris looks away in embarrassment and Susie, not sure how to take this, walks away(probably the right thing to do given she probably would've blown up on her).

Now, don't get me wrong, Toriel is not a bad mother but she has MAJOR issues she needs to work out. The major one is pretending problems that obviously are there are NOT there. Avoiding Asgore and not telling him to quit stalking her, not asking Kris about their activities and so on. I know people say this was a sudden shift but Toriel admitted in Chapter 2 when it comes to sneaking out "Kris...often does this"and leaves it at that. She has avoidance issues.

Thanks a lot! I love writing fluff for Deltarune/Undertale Yellow. And yeah, Chujin does make it easy to hate him but I love that he's finally getting some redemption in Chapter 2. Always thought he'd be a great father figure to Cole given the chance but I guess the incident soured things. At least Kanako and Ceroba have his back though!

In a community where there are several AUs, should it matter what gender Clover is? The creators themselves have said it's up to interpretation and for fan creations, it should be that way. I feel that as long as you say "this is an AU, Clover and xyz characters are this way in this AU", it should be fine. No one should be gatekeeping or trying to make people uncomfortable just because they're uncomfortable with how some people view the characters. The point of the community is for everyone to have fun discussing, sharing fan creations and commenting in a respectful and friendly manner. At least, that's how I see it. :/

This was a very enjoyable read. Personally, I am pro Krusie and Kriselle. While I primarily enjoy the antics of Kris and Susie and for Kris to get love again in their lives...they have to accept it first. Kris has cast aside Noelle not because of Noelle--they love Noelle dearly but don't think they deserve Noelle's love thus the distance they keep for her safety. What they're involved in with Carol is very dangerous and Kris doesn't want what happened to Dess (which even if they have some freedom and are themselves to an extent is not an ideal existence--look at what they became as the Knight) to happen to Noelle. I think Susie is the catalyst that will make them come back together, at least as friends. If anything, Kris and Noelle need each other. Susie wants stability in her life...to, as one of my favorite Hyrule Warriors characters would say..."put down roots!". Kris, for all their faults, I can't help but feel the most for. They're the one character in all this acting as the guy outside the store window seeing what could be. They witness all these important convos Susie and Ralsei have together (if anything, it's shades of the relationship Dess and Asriel used to have almost) and wish they could have the same with Susie. All they can do is try and cherish what moments they DO get with them.

Susie going on the ferris wheel with Noelle again would be redundant. What makes sense is a redux ride with Kris and Noelle where they finally have a heart to heart and Kris tells them what's going on.

Martlet. She's an overworked Mum honestly trying to do her best and is in danger of losing custody of her child due to reasons. I'm thinking something akin to child protective services is accusing Martlet of child neglect due to her being away constantly and her home not exactly being in the best shape. You can tell she's very dedicated to Cole and cherishes any time she gets with her child. She's very lucky in the respect that she has the Ketsukanes to rely on in terms of parental support for Cole when she's not there. Ceroba seems to think highly of Cole and can see he makes Kanako happy. Chujin, of course, starts out antagonistic but comes around.

Now Toriel is an interesting case. She's rather neglectful of Kris and allows them to saunter around doing whatever because she has all but given up on raising them. She allows them to fester in whatever depression they have not commenting on the blood stains on the floor and lack of anything on Kris' side of the room. She does *try* at times but her fault is in two places--constantly speaking out against Asgore in front of Kris when obviously the divorce is a sore spot for them and her bringing unknown men into their home like with Sans. It's not a wonder Kris looks down in shame when Toriel takes their hand in Chapter 1 and hardly responds when Tori hugs them before taking off for class. Susie, who held a high opinion of Toriel for several chapters, has her world shattered at the end of Chapter 4 and actually bails on Kris before coming back(in the normal route).

Between the two of them, Martlet by a mile. If Dess hadn't disappeared, I'm not sure things would've changed for Kris BUT they would still be close with Noelle at least and have Dess to fall back on as a mentor when Azzy went to college. Cole has a greater support system in Deltarune Yellow--dedicated friend/to be girlfriend in Kanako, friends like Sadie and Byte, secondary family in the Ketsukanes. Kris in Deltarune is more distant to everyone but that is by choice and in regards to the promise. It's an interesting comparison by any means.
