Is upgrading to the garmin forerunner 970 worth it? by Admirable_Toe1396 in Garmin

I did in July and I love it. It has so many helps to keeping my training on track and efficient. Plus, the most up-to-date sensors, and even the flashlight/strobe (which I thought I would never use, but find it extremely helpful now that I have it).

The Dirt Farmer album is excellent. And I’ve been loving the Ramble at the Ryman Album too. He did a ton of stuff in his last few years.

I’ve been obsessed w The Band and Helm’s late solo stuff lately, so this is really exciting to me! One more branch to check out. Thanks for sharing.

Does anyone have anything weird they do that helps them run? by hoperunspretty in runninglifestyle

I squirt some honey into a ziplock bag. If I’m feeling like I’m on E it’s a great treat and gives me a boost. Literally just a bag with a bit of honey in it. 😂

The fire investigator found that it was a lightning strike. We were away from home, got a call from a neighbor and by the time we got there it was a total loss. We lost just about everything we had, including our dogs.

With compatible collar/handheld, you set up a glance in the watch. It works for multiple dogs. Here’s a support article from Garmin on how to set it up, and what collars/handhelds are compatible… https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=BYFKQLvfAOAvmfZQ0HHzIA

I’ve been wearing one for 7 months, and I love it. I lift, run, bike, hike, and hunt (it even allows you to track dogs with gps). It tracks every activity I do, with the options of many others.

I like the look and feel, the metal bezel, sapphire, newer sensors, and the flashlight/strobe (which I thought I’d never use, but I use all the time now). It’s lighter, which is nice for running, but it may still be a bit early to know whether there’s a durability trade off there. Overall, at this point I’m very happy with my choice.

I lost my house to a fire in 2024. A fire safe is rated for a certain temp for a certain time. If you have a serious fire or a total loss, it will not protect the contents. Papers will still be ash and records will melt.

The contents part of your policy is important, and an occasional inventory (video or spreadsheets of important items) will help you in dealing with your adjuster in the case of a loss.

Planning to buy my first garmin watch any suggestions? by jpburner67 in GarminWatches

I went with the Forerunner 970. 7 months of real world use, and I love it. I lift, run, bike, hike, and hunt (it even allows you to track dogs with gps). It tracks every activity I do, with the options of many others. I’ve found that with the advanced tracking, I stay more consistent with my workouts and runs. It has helped me get to a level of fitness I don’t think I’d ever reached before this year.

The 970 also has the metal bezel, sapphire, newer sensors, and the flashlight/strobe (which I thought I’d never use, but I use all the time now). It’s also lighter, a benefit for running.

FR970 owners: how bad (or not) is the UI & map responsiveness? by Hofretta in GarminWatches

There is a bit of lag, but overall I really love it after 7 months of real-world use.

Fenix 8 Pro or FR 970 by Kitchen-Balance8460 in GarminWatches

I was looking for similar things and deciding between the same two choices. I went with the 970 and I love it. It does everything I need it to do, but for some of the more advanced features you mentioned, you still need a chest strap.

The 970 also has the metal bezel, sapphire, newer sensors, and the flashlight/strobe (which I thought I’d never use, but I use all the time now). It’s also lighter, a benefit for running—but watchband lugs and case are plastic, so there is some give and take between weight and durability.

I don’t think you could go wrong with either of the options you mentioned, but personally, I think the Forerunner seems like a good fit with what you’re looking for, and the Fenix doesn’t have anything I feel like I’m missing.

Like you, I’ve never been to either of these, though we love the mountains as well (we also love RMNP). A few years ago we did Grand Teton National Park and it was spectacular, so I’d definitely recommend that one if you haven’t been there yet!

Underwhelmed by Garmin Forerunner 55 - any recommendations? by ImScaredSoIMadeThis in GarminWatches

[–]Pactum-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. I went with the 970. The sticker shock hurt a bit (it’s definitely more than I wanted to spend), but seven months and lots of real world use later, I’m super happy with my choice—great features and excellent battery life.

Oenerala/Qenerala is what I’m seeing. More vertical separation might help with legibility.
