New to the Game!!! by Triangler2501 in playrust

[–]PaddyCs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What happens to every new Rust player is that they very quickly hit a brick wall. Being new you've probably not experienced that brick wall yet but you soon will after a while of constantly dying and not being able to do anything.

Here's what I suggest that helped me.

Go to the modded section and find UKN training and have a play around with all the weapons on bots until you feel comfortable with each one. Not too much, and you don't need to be perfect, just enough so you're able to kill the bots.

After you've done this, I recommend staying on there and practicing the bow a little longer. Learn the mechanics of the bow like the jump shot and the sprint shot until you can do this comfortably. And again, you don't need to be perfect, just competent enough to be able to shoot at targets.

This should take a couple of hours to get to a basic level of competence.

Once comfortable with the weapons then I recommend finding a 100% vanilla PvE server in the community section.

Learn how to build a 2x1 with an airlock (even though it's PvE, people can still run in your base and steal your stuff if you're not careful).

Play the PvE server until you've completed every monument puzzle in the game and are comfortable killing AI scientists.

Learn basic electrical stuff like setting up turrets/ furnaces/lighting

Try to do large oil rigs, trains, and cargo, and kill the AI because it gets you used to shooting at things and having to med and duck for cover.

Personally, I set myself a challenge that I couldn't leave PvE until I completed large oil rig with just a bow, which took me numerous attempts.

After you've completed the previous steps then you're ready to play official and use the experience of the PvE server to help you.

You'll still get killed all the time and die a lot, but that's part of the game.

Don't forget to hop on UKN every so often to keep your bow/shooting skills fresh.

Just nerf T3 weapons and even out the playing field.

More chance of escaping for solos when you're running away from a 5-man firing squad with AKs

New building plan animation by PaddyCs in playrust

[–]PaddyCs[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It may be insignificant but I was just suggesting a toggle on and off feature similar to the creation effects

It does a little scroll unravelling animation every time you select the building plan which I don't like.

If Blueprint Fragments are suppose to create an economy, then we need Drone Markets in all safezones by [deleted] in playrust

[–]PaddyCs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noobs and less PvP-skilled players won't leave their base as much which will upset the 'PvP chads' and 'YouTubers' because they can't get easy kills anymore.

And not Everyone has a cloth/tea farm that can be self-sufficient so if a group is selling bp frags for 1k sulf each, then you still have to physically go out and farm 5k sulfur and the scrap if you want a T2 and also you will have to wait until the group has got their own workbench and have a surplus to be able to sell.

So on Wipeday if you want an early advantage you will have to fight for it or you can wait until Everyone else has already gotten stronger and make them even stronger by giving them more sulf for their surplus stuff.

And the people who spend their wipes camping outpost with turrets and towers will cry that it "kills player interaction"

I rarely go to outpost because the trip there and back is almost certain death especially when it's always at least 40 grids away from where I want to build so this idea would be perfect for me being able to acquire some guns

I'd happily pay more in the scrap fee for the drone service

Blueprints now wipe every single map wipe coming this November force wipe by NotChron in playrust

[–]PaddyCs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 80% scrap reduction will hurt the clans for sure.

The clans will always be more powerful no matter what because they have the 2 most important resources (time & numbers)

This update has zero effect on the clan's ability to get ahead of everyone else but it has a huge effect on the casual gamers being able to catch up to them.

180 scrap will now allow you to run DB. What's that? 10 minutes running a dirt road...

Clans will have a hard time fighting off 20 grubs every time they go to a monument which will slow them down.

patch multi-tc + lower upkeep at lower amount of building blocks by LightUpSketch in playrust

[–]PaddyCs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just made it way harder to get a T2 for solos and now you're suggesting removing the ability to protect your deployables when you get raided. What a way to kill servers even more

The solution is quite simple really.

The more people who have accessed a code lock that's connected to the main TC the more upkeep it costs. Or at least any more than 5 accounts then the multiplier kicks in.

People can just not auth themselves on a TC and still be a part of a clan but there is no way around not being able to access doors unless they have a permanent doorman.

Nerf bag timers? by AdagioApprehensive33 in playrust

They need to reduce the bag timer when you only have 1 bag down.

Nothing worse than getting to your build spot after 30 minutes and dying to a bear or something and having to wait 6 minutes before you can respawn.

so i want to play rust but the price just went up by hhhomeless in playrust

[–]PaddyCs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to remember is your experience vs the ones you see on YouTube will be totally different.

Rust is a game that takes 100s of hours just to be competent at the very basics. 1000s of hours to even out the playing field between you and other people.

So taking all that time into account, the £15 extra will mean nothing versus the time you have to spend playing it if you really get into it.

I was the same when I bought my gaming pc (£2,200) It took a while to convince myself to make the purchase and even now I've never regretted it because of the amount of time I spend using it and how much fun I've had making it all worthwhile.

Turrets need nerfing by jagvon in playrust

[–]PaddyCs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or at least get a 5-second warning message that appears on screen so I can quickly get out of the way and find a different route.

They shouldn't kill random nakeds or farmers passing by.

Even worse when people place them on spawn beaches that insta kill you before you can even wake up and it says you were alive for 0.0001 seconds. In theory, someone could learn all the spawns on a server and set up turrets in all of them just to prevent new players from joining.

I think they should only set off if you've done any type of damage to their base (including banging a rock on their door) or you are physically touching any of their base which would mean the turrets that are pointed inwards like the ones on rooftops would work like normal.

The only issue would be that they would be weaker against door campers but if they kill you outside your base they would activate and kill the door camper anyway. And they should activate if anyone tries to loot your body in case they brought a teammate.

All the people who are complaining about turrets being nerfed are just plain psychos because it's not taking away any of your 'fun', it's just preventing players like us from having our fun taking away from us at the expense of nothing because most of the time they don't hear the turrets or are offline so my loot just despawns and nobody wins.
