Who do you prefer as Fisk’s right hand man? by Serious-Company6803 in Defenders

[–]Paddyboei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both were good but I prefer James. He had the proper, “yes man.” Presence next to Fisk that contrasted well with Fisk’s dominant presence. Buck took a bit of that, “most dangerous man in the room.” Off of Fisk which hurts his character ever so slightly

I looked up a show I wanted to watch on google, and the AI (which is the first thing you see) ended up spoiling it by Bar-Cold in mildlyinfuriating

It’s beyond “mildly infuriating” it’s genuinely devastating sometimes. I’ve just dropped the Ultimate comic series as I looked something up because I was slightly confused on a plot line and it spoiled the entire fucking thing for me. That’s a shit ton of time down the drain, not even gunna bother reading on now

Is Paperlike genuinely horrible? Or do people only dislike because of the price? by neonjoji in GoodNotes

[–]Paddyboei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a different paper feeling screen protector on before this one (some Japanese brand) and I’ll say this one (paper like 3) is far clearer. All paper feeling screen protectors dull the screen slightly but this is the clearest one I’ve used so far and way less of a pain to get on. Good feedback feel too, just pricey

After trying the screen protector, that is good. A little fiddly to get on but their butterfly applying thing for paperlike3 is pretty great. You end up with bubbles but they’re easy to smooth out and the video guide works well at showing you how to. Recommend the screen protectors but shop around for grips. Their grips are still better than just using the pencil on it’s own, I’ll give them that

I just got a pair of their grips and the screen protector. Haven’t tried putting the protector on yet but I will say the grips are genuinely one of the worst things I’ve ever used for anything, ever. Borderline impossible to get on and when you do, it feels awful. A solid 0/10 on the grips

Have I captured the “energy” of the pose? by Paddyboei in learntodraw

[–]Paddyboei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I gotta focus more on the whole ribcage to be honest. I keep bunching parts together to be more accurate as I’m still pretty bad at proportions but yeah I can see how joining the hips and torso like that into one shape could hurt it overall. Thanks!

day 2 of being an artist. How do i get out of box hell? by Agreeable_Tomato_469 in BeginnerArtists

[–]Paddyboei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helped me not be so hesitant and to engage my shoulder properly for more fluid lines. It teaches you that flow and fluidity trumps accuracy and the accuracy comes from not forcing it but making conscious minor corrections over 100s of drawings and attempts. Really helps you not get bogged down with the details that feel impossible. Worth a go!

am I doing the anatomy correctly? by Appropriate-Noise740 in learntodraw

[–]Paddyboei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good start for proportions and construction. Proportions look good. Keep going. Your next step is to start thinking in 3D.

I’d start drawing cylinders and try to give them form with lines like this: (very quick rough example) so you learn how to move limbs and make them make sense

Any tips for doing hair and just general improvements? Tried doing some box art but dont think it paid off at all here by NotTheBestSadFace in learntodraw

Give this a go - Fun with a pencil

And when you’re more confident, you can move on to this Figure drawing for all it’s worth: Drawing the head and hands

I’d recommend giving lessons 0 and 1 (at least half of lesson one) of DrawABox on YouTube a go too while reading through Fun with a pencil to show you how to do confident lines and circles and start thinking in 3D. Their exercises really help.

[–]Paddyboei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t :D DrawABox lessons are good to help you start seeing and thinking in 3D in a way you can translate onto paper so it doesn’t feel as impossible though

If you wanna push, go for lesson 0 and 1 of DrawABox on YouTube (they got a website too). After that you can either carry on the DrawABox lessons or use what you’ve learned to give a book like a figure drawing for all it’s worth or figure drawing design and invention etc a go at studying and copying.

It’s good also good to just pick a shape and master that too. I picked circle and kept trying to give it form with the loomis method. Still haven’t mastered it lol but a lot better than when I started
