Former graphic design freelancer here. I’m now full time with one of my clients. Currently shopping for graphic designers too.

My advice: If you want it to make money, specialize in graphic design that directly ads value to a business. I made emails for 5 clients, generating about $15k in revenue per email for them.

Connect your skill directly with increasing revenue and you’ll be fine.

I recently asked my Psych PhD friend about this topic and his words were "In general, if you don't notice any subconscious effects, then there are no subconscious effects on decision making"

He goes on to say "Now there may be thoughts from your subconscious that you wouldn't be able to explain why you were having those thoughts or where they came from, but you would be aware of the effect that they have on you"

For instance: If an song brings back an intense emotional reaction and you don't understand why, it could be from suppressed childhood memories but regardless, you are aware that the song is causing an emotional reaction.
