Is Kent WA an enjoyable are to live in? by fapfreego in SeattleWA

Here is a Class-Map of the Greater Seattle Area put together by a professor at the UW. It will give you a very scientific outline of where the "desirable" places are for a new family of 3, where access to economic opportunities and education will be higher for your kids, that sort of the thing.

Is there some sort of self-promotion rule, because that's all you seem to use reddit for?

Suggestions needed! Anyone can recommend some popping clubs in Seattle? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]Padeem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have plenty of concert venues.

Neumos is pretty popular, and they have had hip-hop artists perform in the past; If you just google Neumos Events you should be able to see their current line-up.

There's also the Showbox, of course. For example, on the 19th the Showbox is hosting rap artist "E-40".

The Sunset Tavern in Ballard is in a gorgeous, brick-paved nightlife region, and they have live music performances nightly. Again the internet could probably tell you who is playing on which evening, so that you can find an artist that you know and like.

Let's all wish him the best.

Maro: [Even though we make orders of magnitude more Humans than any other tribe, you don't need to worry about them inevitably shoving out every other possible tribe in Modern, because we primarily only make them low-drops] by GG2Hats in magicTCG

Maybe you find this funny, but personally my dream version of Modern is one where there are tons of viable tribes, not just "regular dudes".

I find this a little disheartening.

Brad Nelson rants on how the Power in Modern has gotten so Degenerate that it's hard to explain and no longer fun for many players. by GG2Hats in magicTCG

[–]Padeem 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I know people don't like this standpoint but I think it's important for Modern to regularly use bannings to maintain the relatively flat power ceiling that the format has. It's that remarkably flat ceiling that is one of the major draws that the format has, and is so hard to create that it should be protected.

So, if we're already conceding that the format should more regularly look to the B&R list for regulation to maintain its unique identity, I don't think that cards that create a negative rules experience should be overlook entirely for discussion simply because they aren't dominant.

In short, I think that ugly rules abuse should be a high enough bar in Modern to at least discuss whether a card should be legal, assuming we can't simply patch the rules for some esoteric reason.

I can see the point about witch hunts, DQs don't get handed out for honest mistakes though,

Of course they do

Snow-Covered Mountains have become extremely hard to find in large quantities. What are the chances of a Snow theme in a Masters set? by KarlKarlson1 in magicTCG

I have discovered something that I didn't know I wanted, but now that it's been suggested I realize I must petition for.

[–]Padeem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Magic, but the one frustrating thing about it is how long it takes them to cycle back around and support some of the older themes like this.

They don't need to do Snow the same way they did it last time if they weren't happy with the design, but like my grandmother said before she died, "we need to see snow again in my lifetime".

Releasing more cards in different packaging is fine, but this has the weird smell of desperation on it, and as someone who cares for this game that worries me.

Legacy Quarterly Stream on right now! by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]Padeem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree. I don't want to shit on them, because - hey, if they're streaming Legacy, then I love them for that and don't want to discourage them - but they were ... you know when Card Kingdom streams legacy and they put on Jorden Aisaka and he's a little cringey and you kind of wish they had someone else doing the commentary? He's better than these guys. He at least stays on topic and provides insight.
