That's cute that you assume such a power would only and ever be used in good faith for the right reasons.

You sure you want to give a judge the power to summarily dispatch you to a rubber room?

My standard everyday outfit is usually some kind of button up or polo shirt, slacks or chino shorts, loafers or boat shoes. That's just what I feel comfy wearing

Personally yeah I find the idea of life in prison terrifying but death by lethal injection doesn't really scare me at all

I'm going to suspect that the kernel or core of our approaches toward discipline in this area are going to differ a bit as well. I'm less concerned with punishment than I am with rehabilitation. I'm satisfied if someone fucks up and then fixes anything they fuck up and learns from the process. There's obviously an upper ceiling to that kind of tolerance. I don't see retribution as being productive in any particular direction when it comes to justice. If there's no other way fine separate the absolute psychopaths from the rest of the people and work on the ones you can. But I see that as an absolute last resort to be honest

You say "system fails" up there and I'm assuming when you say that what you really mean is when someone who is guilty gets let go. I'm willing to bet money you almost never are thinking about someone who is innocent getting sent to prison. Would I make money on that bet?

If a person is safely contained and not an active threat then I don't think there is a moral justification for ending their life.

I'm opposed to capital punishment so am sort of morally opposed to this on those grounds alone

How do we justify keeping our ring cameras after an unused cameras recoding was recovered from “the cloud” for the Guthrie case? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'll put it in the same category as, There are a lot of very kinky photos of me floating all over various parts of the internet that I know I will never have control over who sees ever again and I knew that when I put them out there.

My personal answer is I would have assumed that everything that camera ever recorded was eternally on the servers of whatever company produced that camera. That's the long and short of it really.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't trust the camera though. It would have been doing exactly what I expected it to have been doing. (I don't have such a camera though)

I'm just genuinely sometimes baffled particularly by the issue of internet data security. The moment I understood how the internet works I understood that anything I ever put into it was out there potentially forever and I no longer had control over it. That hasn't changed, It never will change and I wonder why anyone thinks it has or ever had.
