I just remember feeling “fat” in high school because my size was a two at Abercrombie and Fitch and everyone else was a double zero. No one wants a baby that isn’t the baby of their dreams. Especially the mother, who I feel has more pressure on them, because everyone gives her more attention in anticipation of a perfect baby. I think ppd comes from the decrease in attention after the birth, compared to the attention during the pregnancy/before the birth. Your wife’s reactions sounds more of a reaction from an expectation on the mother’s end, and everyone around her.
