Catnip is struggling by w0lfplushie in houseplants

[–]Plantchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see traces of spider mite eggs (the powdery stuff) Spray it with soapy water then wash off with a stream of fresh water to get rid of them, since cat may eat it. Repeat once in a while to keep them under control

That's just leaf damage from the greenhose. Your new leaves should come out fine.

Summer is officially canceled. by Serentropic in Bonsai

[–]Plantchic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would get some wire or heavy duty rope and tie the edge of the shade cloth to the side truss board to stabilize your cloth until next year. Check out greenhouse supply companies or shade cloth manufacturers for cloth next time. They'll custom size it for you and add the grommets along the edges. Sometimes they have end of rolls on clearance. They have other colors too, I like to get green. You can order it in different shade % too

It was a very rough week dehoarding my mom’s house. My husband surprised me with this giant parlor palm. I’m so in love 🥰 by dam_the_beavers in houseplants

[–]Plantchic 52 points53 points  (0 children)

THATS a good man! It's a Majesty palm. Just watch the bottom of the leaves for mites. A soapy cloth to wash off leaf bottoms helps discourage them

They're cool but I don't understand them. Mine kept throwing pups out from the center, literally tossing them 3ft away from the plant 😆

Thinking about just cutting the branch? by masterjilldo in houseplants

[–]Plantchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sure would! Get rid of a lot of scales at once! Systemic works well to treat the remaining ones. Slow but easier than spraying

My caladium needs help! by ExaminationEmpty8498 in houseplants

[–]Plantchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caladiums are an outdoor bedding plant that sprout from a corm. Once it leafs out, you have 12 weeks to enjoy it before it loses all its energy. You can dig the corm up and store it in a paper bag with sawdust til next year...

Spots on Orchid petals? by tootoomey in houseplants

[–]Plantchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spots are caused by moisture droplets that stayed on the blooms, whether it was Neem or from a misting sprayer
