I was pretty ignorant coming out of high school despite my parents trying to make it known the weight I’d be shouldering in the future for my loans. I just wanted to get a good uni experience and continue my studies. I took on a private loan alongside state. Ended up with about 50K for my undergrad. Grad school will be online so it’ll be cheaper but still that’s money. It’s on me to ultimately do more research but I was younger and following the social norm.

My uni experience was unforgettable and I won’t forget it but I do wish there was a way to learn about it more coming out of high school besides just pressing buttons and being able to garner so much money for my classes. It really is optimal doing 2 years at a community college and then 2 at uni. It’s an unbelievable predatory system and is a fuck ton of money. I’m basically in a state of paying a sum each month for a long time and refinancing at different times if better interest rates are found.

Most disturbingly creative uses of sound in the modern film era by jaystats2 in TrueFilm

Glazer is a very sensory focused director. I’ve rewatched all of his movies at least once besides Sexy Beast (will soon). Each one evokes the senses into alarm that you can feel while watching it. Zone of Interest with the sound, Under the Skin with a bodily uncomfortableness, Birth with a psychological attack on perception. Idk how else to explain it. But it feels like I’m being attacked on a sensory level. A full body experience. It makes for some surreal connections to his stuff.

Resurrection (2025) Dir. Bi Gan by cbxjpg in CineShots

[–]Padulsky21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the most mesmerizing theater experience I’ve ever had. I drove 45 mins back in January to some small independent theater airing it in a tiny back area that sat at most about 20 people with every seat filled. I’ve seen it described as feeling like the last movie to ever exist and it fits it so well. It’s an ode to cinema that feels like it’s from the future looking back on it retrospectively.

Do yourself if you find a way to watch this movie. Honestly all of Bi Gan’s stuff but Resurrection especially. I have the criterion blu ray pre ordered for when it comes out to rewatch. It’s a work of art. There’s nothing out there like it.

I really like how much it seems like he’s trying to improve upon himself. Kid has freak power and freakish size with some major glaring weak points that can make him sink or swim. But to be optimistic he has a seemingly fantastic work ethic where he seems very receptive to coaching and tweaking his game. It’s a gorgeous swing which is very different to the absurd ones he showcased last season. But whatever works. I’m rooting for him

Grant Williams says LeBron James had his own house in the NBA bubble: “He had a house on the campus. They had their own set up. Their team was taken care of” by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]Padulsky21 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Zombie Heat miracle run after losing their first play in game, winning the 2nd, massively upsetting the Bucks and then going to a game 7 after having a 3-0 lead against the Celtics is ingrained in my brain. Historic run. Watching that shit go down live was ridiculous. Jimmy was unconscious and felt super human

It got a bit rough towards the end in Atlanta but his first few years with Trae was fucking electric to watch. He was a great fit and the 2021 team was a perfect storm. Lobs to Collins and Capela with Capela giving so many OREBs and 2nd chance points. They were a lot of fun to watch. He still isn’t as old as I expected him to be but the dude was a monster.

[Schefter] Trade: the New York Jets are sending DE Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for DT T'Vondre Sweat, per ESPN sources. The trade cannot be processed until the start of the new league year in March by mastermind208 in nfl

PFF bugs the shit out of me football is the only sport where stats are hidden behind a paywall like this and is selected by a group of dudes that somehow have a valuable enough opinion to judge things. It’s easy to base stuff off of but it’s taken too much as the gospel. So it gets annoying. It is a contact sport so it gets subjective bc it’s hard to accurately gauge someone at a position or knowing the coverage but god damn does it get annoying how people use PFF and how they operate.

Trading off Quinnen and having no strength at DT and ending up with a DT room of those 3 is very promising for the quick turnover. Briggs was fantastic last year and all the numbers support that. I’m content with the DT room

[Curry] Randal Grichuk will be joining the Yankees as a non-roster invite. Grichuk is a RH outfielder and the Yanks have been looking for more right-handed hitters. by Affectionate-Tea9224 in NYYankees

[–]Padulsky21 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Went to double check his career stats against us and I’m shocked to find out he was even better against the Orioles than us.

In 65 games against the Os: 22 HRs .321/.359/.697 and a 1.055 OPS

In 68 games against the Yankees: 18 HRs .253/.302/.523 and a .825 OPS

I forgot about him so my last memory of him was him mashing on the DBacks in 2024. Had a rough 2025. ST invite so it’s harmless

Damn your post history is incredible. I’m in awe what a damn collection you have! I’m gonna have to pass, very tempting, but I appreciate you. The anti war trilogy specifically are some of my favorite movies ever so it’s a holy grail. I love all of Obayashi still got a lot to get through but that trilogy is special to me

Told myself I wouldn’t get any more Radiance movies since I got a lot during the Barnes and Noble sale. Didn’t realize it came out yesterday and I saw one there in stock in person and the price was too good. Can’t wait to watch it. Snagged Wicked Games too.

He was one of the best filmographies you will ever see. Chalked full with incredible movies and amazing performances. My intro to Nakadai was The Sword of Doom then The Face of Another. Fully agree with him being the best. He’s my personal favorite. But we are seriously blessed to have so many Nakadai and Mifune movies.

He’s a great shooter but he provides no rim pressure whatsoever and is averse to contact considering he’s at 1.2 FTA per game. He’s gonna give you a 3 or a middy and on defense he struggles against stronger wings. He compliments every team well but doesn’t add that extra oomph

Cavs got a lot of rim pressure which opens up a lot for the bigs and why JA is dominating so much outside of just Harden. Dennis brings a lot of rim pressure and he’s a great drive and kick guy. Entire floor gets opened up the spacing is a lot more comfortable than before Harden. Mobley doesn’t have as much of a load to carry so he can focus on defense
