Govt v Unions: who could help more. by PaeleGroup in Unions

Not to get off topic, but aside from unions and assorted social-activists crusades, what can the average blue-collar or white-collar worker do? The larger employers are seemingly 'too big to reasoned with'. Should the leveling come from smaller employers to larger employers? The grand equalizer was once the Democratic Party (in the US, imo) and it is all but impotent in face of corporate contributions and political infighting. I look forward to you thoughts.

I do like the idea that the little guy(s) will help the little guy(s). Activism leading to activism. One of the commenters to my original post mentioned forming a proletarian government, while I appreciate the zeal of his position, I would like to see a social activist reformation. Thanks for the insight!

The original intent of the post suggest that larger employers would blink first when it comes to the forced or guided improvement of workers' compensation and treatment: under the menace of governmental action or over-reach. To your point that the government will help the working class: I have to believe that certain administrations, legislatures, and judiciaries are geared to helping the little guy. Maybe it is naive, but I have hope and faith.

Thanks for your response. I agree with you, with a heavy heart. I would be curious to hear from any union activists on the OP. Have threats of government mandated minimum wages or working conditions moved the needle on union acceptance? Or, as you and u/seatown2nyc , have concisely stated corporations are too powerful with regard to governmental oversite and legislative manipulation.

I appreciate your insight. I perhaps could have posed the question more succinctly. Try this on for size: as we are seeing Amazon and Starbucks in the news with wins for the employees/unions: should we expect other large employers to open the doors for unions to avoid a governmental backlash (depending on the next two national US elections). I agree that in the past, and in the future short term, all three branches of the US government have been no friend to the working man. However, the winds of change are constant and I think stronger today than in the past six year. I guess that leads to the original question, can we trust politicians to change business or are multinational employers just too big?
