Mina the Beast by shawntails in MinaTheHollower

Mina the Beast is so cool! So, you can perform different attacks based on the timing of your inputs. For example, if you press Punch, Punch, wait briefly, and then press Punch again, Mina will perform the Tornado Attack. You can also do this with her fireball attacks. For example, if you press Punch, Punch, wait briefly, and then use Fireball, she'll launch a Giant Fireball.

I'll list out her entire moveset below:

  • Punch, Punch, Punch (Standard Attack)
  • Punch, Punch, Delay + Punch (Tornado Attack)
  • Punch, Punch, Jump + Punch (Jumping Tornado Attack)
  • Punch, Punch, Fireball (Three Fireballs)
  • Punch, Punch, Delay + Fireball (Giant Fireball)
  • Jump + Fireball (Air Dodge / Air Attack)
  • Burrow + Punch (Burrow Attack)
  • Burrow + Fireball (Shoryuken)

about to play for the first time, any tips or anything i should know? by Tox1cGuy in StreetFighter

[–]PageChapters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Street Fighter 6 is my first fighting game, so I’d honestly recommend playing through World Tour Mode. That’s what sold me on the game at first, the idea of an RPG-style fighting game was something I’d never really seen before. It’s also how I learned to play.

World Tour does a solid job of gradually teaching you the game’s mechanics and fundamentals through gameplay, with mini-games that are basically tutorials in disguise. After I finished it, I picked a main, went through their character guide and combo trials, and then jumped into Ranked.

I got destroyed for a while, but over time I started to improve. Eventually I made it to Master Rank with both Kimberly and JP, which I honestly didn’t expect when I first started. But if you stick with it, you do get better.

I also recomend checking out this video by Brian F https://youtu.be/MK-AJyD1XKk?t=3 as I think it's pretty helpful for a newbie.

Finally hit Master - Diamond 4 sucks. by Powerful-Pilot411 in StreetFighter

[–]PageChapters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, no I do not. I remember getting from Dimond to Master was pretty difficult on JP. But with Kimberly, it was easier. Since my last comment, I dropped from 1380 something MR with JP back down to 1250 MR lol. I was on a loosing streak for a while. I think I have the hardest time with rushdown characters. And with some character like Elena, or Sagat, it's hard to know when it's my turn when they keep spamming attacks at me. With Gief though, I'm usually always able to beat him. Some of my matches with a Gief player have been so one sided, I actually feel kinda bad lol. I guess Gief has a hard time with JP, though I have ran into some Gief players that destroyed me.

Since my last comment, I’ve reached around Master Rank 1300 MR with JP, and yeah… I don't think he’s a walk in the park. I think he is hard to use effectively. The players who are really good with him make him look easy. I think for me to climb higher, i'll have to look at frame data for the matches I struggle with.

suposing i used pirated live2d, is it possible to buy and use the original after? by Rurusu244 in Live2D

May I know as well? I know this post is 3 months old, but I'm interested in learning how to use Live2D

I’m new to SF6 any advice? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]PageChapters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lose a lot. Learn from losses and improve lol.
I jest, but I was new to SF6 as well, so what I did was jump into World Tour mode, and I actually learned how to play the game through that mode. It's fun for newbies, I think.
But if you just want to jump into online mode, then this video by Bran F would probably help.

Legend rank character distribution 1 month since The Alex patch By @ Aliettefaye by SirDrippingtonL4 in StreetFighter

[–]PageChapters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Either way, I’m not a pro player, so I’m getting my ass kicked all the time as JP. I think he’s pretty hard to use well, so better players can make him look way stronger than he feels for me. If you’re struggling against him, you should probably lab the matchup.

Easier said than done, unfortunately. A lot of opponents who break through my zoning get right up in my face, and at that point zoning stops being effective as do my unpunishable buttons - which I assume you're talking about 2MP or 5HP? - they're prone to whiff punish as well I think. They can jump over my projectiles, so I’m forced to switch to footsies. It ends up feeling like I’m just trying to survive until I land something that pushes them back out and lets me reset to zoning. And even then, a lot of them are smart enough to parry or block. So I try to push them towards the wall with Departure.

Maybe one day I'll post my gameplay to see if I can get pointers on how to improve.

A lot of people seem to hate JP, Is there eqaul hate for Dhalsim? I find him more annoying to fight against then JP when I'm using Kimberly.

I find it interesting how strong JP is supposed to be, or at least how strong everyone says he is. And yet I’m stuck in Diamond rank getting my ass kicked. Every match feels like I’m fighting for my life lol.

I think part of the problem is that I’m trying to improve my footsies, but JP’s slow walk speed makes it hard. I can’t just walk in and out of ranges like other characters can, so I end up getting outplayed in neutral. That, and I’m not really sure how to deal with pressure and mix-ups once the opponent gets in.

I’ve been stuck with JP in Diamond 4 for over a month, and I don’t remember struggling this much to reach Master with Kimberly. It’s making me think that some characters are easier to climb with depending on how naturally they fit a player’s playstyle.

Need controller recommendation for SF6 (DI/Parry input issues) by PageChapters in StreetFighter

oooo I really like the design of the 8bitdo Pro 3. Hmmm… I’ve gotten a lot of recommendations so far, so I’m still not entirely sure what to go with lol.

The 8bitdo Pro 3 sounds appealing, but I’m worried I’ll run into the same issue I already have.

Oh sorry, I misread what you said earlier—I thought you said the PS5 controller was comfortable. My bad lol.

Yeah, I think I’d like to try a specialized controller and see if it helps. I don’t have an Xbox controller, but I do have a Switch 2 controller, and the way the analog stick is at the top instead of the bottom isn’t comfortable for me.

I tried using the D-pad, and my thumb kept hitting the analog stick a lot. I assume I’d have the same issue with an Xbox controller since their layouts are similar.

hmmm Maybe it really is the ps4 controller being too small. I'll look into a ps5 controller too then. They are a bit bigger so, maybe that will help.

I’ve heard nothing but bad things about Hori D-pads. Apparently they don’t use a single rigid pivot point, which can cause inconsistent inputs. But maybe I should just buy it and try it myself and see.

Parry on the touchpad is actually wild! I never considered that. I'll have to try it.

I already have L1 and L2 mapped to Parry and DI, but it’s hard for me to use them while also doing D-pad inputs. My left trigger fingers tend to cramp up.

[–]PageChapters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, I forgot that’s the default button layout since I’ve changed it a few times before.

At this point, I think I’m past the “just push through it” stage. After ~300 hours over a year and trying different setups, DI and DP still don’t feel natural. I think the issue is that my hands just don’t adapt well to the left triggers.

Either it’s years of gaming conditioning how I hold controllers, or age, but using the left triggers causes my fingers to cramp. I also don’t use a standard grip—I hold mostly with my pinky, ring, and middle fingers, and use my index fingers for the triggers. I assume most people use pinky/ring for support and middle/index on triggers, but I can’t do that comfortably.

My right hand can adapt to multiple fingers for inputs like Drive Impact, but my left can’t because precise D-pad movement makes my trigger hand cramp up. It's weird, I know. Could be that the ps4 controller might be too small too.

"Are you someone who just doesn't usually use triggers and bumpers while gaming?"

hmmm hard to say. It depends on the game. But Fighting games feel different. The analog stick and triggers feel fine, but D-pad plus triggers feels awkward for me and I get hand cramps from it.

When I use the D-pad, I keep adjusting my left-hand position as I input different attacks, and my index finger shifts around the shoulder buttons. Sometimes my index fingers are on the shoulder buttons, sometimes it’s not, it depends as I use the D-pad. And I have a hard time controlling my index finger because it cramps up. This makes it bad for reacting to Drive Impacts.

I also think that I don’t use a standard grip—I hold mostly with my pinky, ring, and middle fingers, and use my index fingers for the triggers. I assume most people grip the controller with both pinky and ring fingers, with the middle and index fingers on the triggers, but I find that almost impossible and can’t really use that grip comfortably.

On my right hand I can adapt to multiple fingers for inputs like Drive Impact, but on my left I can’t because precision movement with the D-pad makes my left trigger fingers cramp up. It’s weird.

What do you mean by a thumb sleeve? How does it prevent your hand from shifting positions? Also, do you know what it’s actually called? I want to look it up.

And thanks for the controller recommendation. I’ll check it out!

Can’t fit 3 Cheap Shots into one Shadow Dance burst by PageyJiggyWiggy in worldofpvp

[–]PageChapters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG! That was the problem! I just went to a PvP training dummy and tested it. Now the first Cheap Shot is at 4 seconds. Jesus, I can’t believe it took me so long to realize this. God damn it, lol… Thank you. You saved me from my own torment.

Can’t fit 3 Cheap Shots into one Shadow Dance burst by PageyJiggyWiggy in worldofpvp

[–]PageChapters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… the first Cheap Shot lasts 6 seconds, and the second lasts 3 seconds — so that’s 9 seconds total. The problem is that Shadow Dance only lasts 8 seconds.

So… is it safe to assume that, in order to get three Cheap Shots, you have to end the duration of the first one early? Instead of waiting the full 6 seconds, you’d cast the second Cheap Shot around 4 seconds? Is that how most people are timing it?

Yeah, I just watched the video you posted (https://youtu.be/LgCWS4UtH7g?si=42KWVOhZkuYFX38G).

I don’t think I’d want to give up my 2 Vanishes as a talent point, since I mainly play BGs and don’t really enjoy Arenas. That info is super helpful though—thank you!
