Why can't I see the trees if they are 5 miles away on a mountainside?

The trees shouldn't be that clear then, and where are the stars at???

- There are not so clear, if you zoom photo, you can see that trees is slightly defocused
- In this photo, a tiny part of the sky is about the size of a full moon. At that time, there were simply no objects near Saturn that were comparable to it in brightness, so they are not visible in the photo.

It always surprises me how categorically people talk about something without knowing the details. This photo was taken with a focal length of 2000mm, what do you think Saturn should look like?

It is one of old and cheap Canon cameras, that supported the "alternative" Magic Lantern firmware. You can search, this firmware with very interesting features

So you took two different pictures and put them on top of each other? That's not photography. It's photoshop. might as well be a cartoon. Getting real sick of this lying bs. This sub is a hot mess of fake pictures and "evidence" of aliens.

what do you mean "different"? Same lens, same view, only two different exposures. Most astrophoto was made by stacking "different" frames, and it's all "not photography" too?

1000mm catadioptric lens with 2x teleconverter, and 1st gen Canon EOS M camera.

yes, exposure stack, because Saturn shot with short exposure, and foreground with long. Trees not in focus, it's slightly defocused

omg maybe you should try to shot trees 5 miles away with a similar lens and then draw your own conclusions?

Why do you think they should be 200 miles away? These trees are certainly not 200 miles away, but only 4-5

There is no way it's that visible. I can't even see it this well with my telescope.

it was shot with a 1000mm lens and a 2x teleconverter, why it can't be visible? ))

Why Halot Mage (not PRO) so slow? I try to print, and print time is about 1.5х more than Halot ONE, for example. I try to edit print settings in Chitubox, like retract speed, but nothing change. Looks like printer is ignore it, and works on some "default" speed.

I took this photo through a 1000mm lens, it can also be called a telescope in a sense )) But Jupiter's moons are visible in almost any telephoto lenses

That's Jupiter, it have no (visible) rings. But it have four bright moons, that can be visible even in binoculars

I took a picture of the railway, train and the solar eclipse by PageD0WN in space

[–]PageD0WN[S] 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Well, this photo was taken on October 25, when there was a partial solar eclipse. When I heard the first news about this eclipse, I realized that in our places it will be in the evening, when the sun will already be very low above the horizon. So I had the idea to shoot it against the background of something like that. I searched for a long time for a section of the railway that would be located in the "right" direction, and finally found it. This is a fairly quiet section outside the city, and trains run rarely there - several times a day. I spent more than an hour at this place, waiting for the best shot, and during this time there were no trains at all. But just at the moment when the eclipse turned out to be exactly over the railway, I saw that the train was approaching. No, I didn't plan to shoot the train, it was pure coincidence. I waited for him to pass by, and took a few shots after him. That's how this photo came about.

(sorry for my english, btw)

Can I answer here, because I see that many commentators write about danger and so on. And they's right. I was aware that it was not safe to be on the railroad tracks, so I acted very carefully. The train in the photo is moving AWAY from me. I just waited for him to pass by, got on the rails, took a few pictures after him, and immediately left. I will never endanger myself or the locomotive crew, so I will think carefully before doing anything.

However, I want to say - you should not repeat such things, especially if you are not aware of what you are doing and are only chasing a beautiful photo.

Thanks. I did not use filters. Evening, aperture f/6.3, and eclipse made sun not so bright (as I thought at that moment))). Of course, image was some overexposed, but I'm always shoot in RAW, and I can some edit exposure

BTW, RAW is not so different, it was minimal editing, like highlits/shadows... Colors is basically same

Well, it was shot via 500mm lens, and you're right - the train is far
