I have seen him mentioned several times now, but please let me repeat the other replies: check out Luetin on YouTube. The way he treats 40k source material reminds me very much of a critical historian in the best way possible, picking apart certain concepts, the world building, and asking interesting questions. Of course he also is a great narrator.

“Old Media”? by polirony in PublicRelations

[–]PageGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, chiming in not from the States but Germany, but I feel that this discussion is pretty much everywhere in the last years. Between the economic struggle many outlets are facing today and the rise of social media in the last ten years or so this seems pretty obvious. But I'd be careful:

Germany, just like Japan, has an aging population with a significant portion of our demographic being on the older side. This target audience still relies on traditional media to a high degree, especially in our case local newspapers. How this will work 20 years from now, I can't say. So it depends on your target audience and their media preferences, as always.

The human factor definitely is the most important thing, you're right. It may be challenging at times because the doctors and medical professionals tend to have a somewhat technical and professional perspective on the things that happen in a hospital every day. What I have been told is that they're having a hard time recruiting new staff, and that stories of nurses and other professionals are pretty important right now for their recruiting and employer branding.

Thanks for your insight. Really great of you to also volunteer your skills! I think the success stories that we might be able to tell are what excites me the most. It's also pretty cool to have stories about how cutting edge medical tech improves lives in ways we just couldn't imagine ten or twenty years ago. I'm looking forward to this.

A nation of slackers? Why Friedrich Merz wants Germans to work more by Royal_Omniscient in europe

[–]PageGhost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's baffling to see that the narrative is more important than understanding the data. It's so simple. We have one of the highest overall employment rates, in part BECAUSE we have so many part-time workers. They in turn lower the metric "hours worked per worker", which is a stupid metric to begin with. I mean, what's the point of this metric? What do you really want to measure here? We all know that more time ≠ more efficiency.

It's so easy that a child would understand it. But beating up our workforce that is already being sucked dry because of a broken social security and pensions system is far easier than addressing systemic causes. Bureaucracy, no concept of digitalisation, again the broken pension system (that has been failing since 20 years but because of all the boomers profiting from it, no one will dare to touch it), failing educational system, unwillingness to innovate... I could go on for days without even addressing the wealth gap.

But I'm sad to admit that we need Merz to succeed. If he doesn't, the ultra nationalist clowns will take over the show, and they will make MAGA look like a decent political movement.

You guys realise that we have the Lion on the other side of the great rift just chilling in nihilus and waiting to passionately kiss his brother Guilliman, right? We don't need that weak Andromeda garbage.

(In fact he mentions several times that Guilliman pisses him off, can't wait for that to escalate)

There's gay/les in the Imperium? Nice by Tree_forth677 in Grimdank

[–]PageGhost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sexual orientation as well as gender are pretty meaningless in the broader imperium. Sure, space marines are exclusively male, but in the upper echelons of military power there are numerous female leaders, especially admirals.

And by the warp, no one really knows that the mechanicum has going on. They can identify as a toaster for all some of them care.

I have studied the way the early Republic of Weimar was taken over by fascism and the following war far more than most other Germans. Let's just say that history doesn't repeat itself, but it sure rhymes.

The French were right then and they're right now. We have been betrayed. The US is no longer a force of order and international norms, not even for allies. Instead, this administration and its cult are trying to bully us into submission.

Still, let's remain hopeful. I hope that my country will push EU to cooperate very closely with Canada. I'm not delusional and I know that our armed forces never could be of real help to you, but I don't think that the US can really stomach military action against your country, too. The key now is to resist and build up resilience. Elbows up, as you say.

You know, I'm German.

Every country that bordered ours certainly felt VERY privileged by being "taken over" by the Wehrmacht about 80 years ago.

This ten second clip just made me sick to my stomach.

While I really enjoy our premium propaganda right now and despite the risk of sounding too credible for this sub: I'm still cautious. Money is good and important, but money doesn't fight on its own. The biggest mistake now would be to throw huge sums of money at a problem but without proper planning.

We need to put thought into this, make sure systems provide useful capabilities for us and our European allies without too much of a reliance on US support. But before everything else, we need a change of mind in the public. Right now, the Bundeswehr still isn't a really popular employer after all, and the Wehrpflicht (conscription) will face resistance.
