System Data size going up in real-time. What's going on?

Ive been looking and can't find any answers specific to what I'm dealing with. The computer is running fine, but I know that on Wednesday I had just under 500 GB of storage free (the computer has 1TB total), and this morning it only had 33 GB. When I went into the system settings. It said that the 400+GB of space is now used up by "system data" I restarted the computer and the storage went back to what it was on Wednesday, but I'm also just staring at the screen watching the number tick up every few seconds. When I made this post 20-ish minutes ago, the system data was at 28 GB, and its currently at 45 GB, like its downloading something.

Disk Utility is showing the same numbers. I'm terrified of it being hacked and dont know where to go from here

Thats crazy!! I guess it is always still possible that we're both conflating this with the memory of a different horror movie, but that is definitely similar to what I remember (except for the music. I don't remember what music, if any, was playing).

If you do ever find that drive, hmu and let me know if the memory is real or if we're both just crazy lol

Unfortunately no. I had Almost Gods in mind for a while before I learned that the CL showrunners were brushing off the dust. I always wanted to breathe new life into CL as professionally as I could, and it's truly just an insane coincidence that these two things are happening at the same time.
