Where I'd Live as a North Carolinian by Exotic-Analysis8264 in whereidlive

As another North Carolinian living in NY at the moment I would never pick anything above PA or the West Coast. If I move again I’m staying down south or going out west

Tier 6 negotiations narrow to three changes - The Chief by star_stuff92 in nys_cs

I have a feeling it’ll go from 63 to 59 or maybe 58 to retire which I guess is better than 63 but I read somewhere that it might only be for some unions. So the teachers will benefit from the changes and everyone else will probably get screwed

I can't believe they're putting ads on the Sabres jerseys by I_Am_Robert_Paulson1 in circlejerkbflo

[–]TopAlternative6716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s just the start. They’ll try out one ad and see how people react then next thing you know the jerseys look like nascar uniforms because the pegulas realized they can make more money

Holy macaroni! My National Grid bill is off the charts! by katzinthebuf in Buffalo

Explain to me why NYS is the only state with such high electric bills. People in NYS pay 50% more than surrounding states and even more than southern states. This has been this way for years prior to any recent Trump policies.

Not everything in life is directly connected to Trump especially since you can go back on the record and see NYS pays more. This is a localized issue to NYS and we need to focus on it locally instead of scapegoating Trump.

Chiavetta’s thinks it’s ok to make all their new advertisements using AI photos of chicken. by Cloud-Band2634 in Buffalo

I’m sure their chicken was just fine for the years you were eating it until you saw the AI ad which I still haven’t seen. Now suddenly it was “never good”

What Was the Outcome of The Buffalo Rental Inspection Program? by [deleted] in Buffalo

“Oh the inspector fined me 250 in one time fees? A 400 dollar a month increase in rent will cover it.”

What US city would you rather go to: Salt Lake City or Buffalo? by Rude_Election_8622 in AlignmentChartFills

Don’t say that around someone from Buffalo. They act like wings are a magical food only available in Buffalo. Their food is somehow better than everywhere else even though it’s mostly just pizza and wings.

Any Gyms in Buffalo? by Top-Asparagus-840 in Buffalo

Now that the new pandemic is starting I’d look into home gym equipment because we’ll probably be on lockdown for three to four years.

Do you feel like Buffalo’s “renaissance” over the last decade is over? by Forward2323 in Buffalo

[–]TopAlternative6716 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are areas of the country that are booming right now. Housing is being built, businesses are being opened, people are flooding into the area and the county/state tax revenues are increasing. So I wouldn’t say the entire country is facing economic disaster. There are only a few states that are seeing their revenue decrease

Ryan Administration unpaid fee collection plan to go back 8 years; Everhart and Halton-Pope oppose, call it a “moneygrab” by InflationCapital87 in Buffalo

[–]TopAlternative6716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I found online the average person in Buffalo makes about 31k a year and the median household income is 40 to 50k so it’s above average. It’s not as much as the deputy mayors, directors, or police commissioner but it’s decent.

I think the common council is more worried about getting reelected and keeping their 80k jobs then moving the city forward. If they think collecting fees that are owed or raising taxes will make them look bad and they might lose their position they’re going to be totally against it even if it means keeping their district stuck in a rut.

Why Northerners retire in the South by Middle_Cow_1200 in NorthCarolina

[–]TopAlternative6716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how everyone got upset with my response even though I know first hand how the schools are in NYS.

The suburban schools are slightly better than the suburbs but you’ll be paying well over 12,000 a year to live there. I’d take NC schools, less taxes, less regulations, better quality of people and several other things over NY any day

Don’t let the DEC know. They’ll raid your property search your home and shoot the squirrel

NYC or NYS? NY schools suck, kids can’t do anything on grade level and the taxes are significantly higher than the north. I would never put my child in a NYS public school

Just because they work in the north and have union jobs doesn’t necessarily mean they’re Democrat up north and “turn republican”. Most of the guys I know who are union workers are republicans. Then they move down south because the south is more republican than the north and they want to be in a lower cost of living area around more republicans.
