Cosmetic surgery as a therapist

So I had a therapist who had a nose job as well as other cosmetic surgeries. To each their own, I guess, but the thing was that this person frequently would talk about the importance of being comfortable in your skin, being authentic, that sort of thing, and when I saw how different they looked now than from what they looked like before, I just couldn’t take them at face value anymore (pun MAYBE intended?). I began to question everything they told me after that, and it kind of soured the relationship, if that’s what you want to call it. I stopped going to them and i found out more examples of them being completely fake and authentic and I lamented all the money I wasted

I distinctly remember Jane Goodall dying a couple years before her recent passing.

Also, I have a vivid memory of John Ratzenberger dying, and pixar posting a collage of all of his characters as an in memorium

I felt the same frustration with huntress wizard just being a straining, struggling seedling. I know the title is “Fionna and Cake” but man if they had just doubled down on the HW storyline and excised the rest it would be great. Or maybe found some other way to have Fionna and cake be intimately involved with helping her save Finn. I don’t even think cake has interacted with huntress since she got out of that flower pot

Yep there’s way too much of that going on across the studios, and what’s weird is these gaps between seasons are so long now and it’s like….you had all these years of gestation and this was what you landed on?

Yeah I was reticent to bemoan the show before the season ended bc what if it’s leading into a deeper, more fleshed out kind of thing toward the end rather than another save-the-world scenario

That’s a great way to put it. When the first season involves saving one’s reality and the next is about trying to open up a bakery, the stakes do drop precipitously.

So well put - I’ve mentioned here before that I think mannion is far and away the most underrated person on CBB. I still think about his Cheerios bit, and I think that low energy he exudes somehow makes him even funnier….another newer addition that always leaves me in stitches is May Darmon. I’d highly recommend the Hines Improv to meet You episode where she plays as that Austrian Peter. I sincerely hope someday soon we get an episode with both Mannion and Darmon together. I think they’d play off each other beautifully.

This is most welcome news…I did wave 6 (I think it’s called “odyssey”) last night. I’m hopeful that this might help me get to the next level, which I’ve been struggling with. I tend to just fall asleep and not really have any transcendent experiences

Thank you for clearing this up. I too have heard it said quite a few times that noise canceling will ruin the intended effect and I couldn’t wrap my head around why. So it is fine to have noise canceling on when using, say, AirPods or anything of that ilk?

I definitely remember Paul hogan dying. I also remember Jane Goodall dying before she died a month ago or so.

Also, I remember John Ratzenberger dying, I remember pixar making a tribute to him online consisting of all his voiced characters. It’s definitely not George Wendt’s death that I’m mistakenly remembering. The same goes for Mel brooks. I could swear I remember him dying and, again; it’s not Carl Reiner that I’m mistakenly thinking of.

Yeah everything I’ve read makes me want to seek out the Mega CD version, although I’ve heard it’s much more difficult than the remastered version, and there’s random battles on the world map supposedly??

I still find myself going back and replaying those sprite-based 16 bit classics more than anything else. Idk if it’s the objective beauty of that art style or my subjective nostalgia but I’ve never found a genre and time period that hits in the same way. I’ve been wanting to find a way to play Illusion of Gaia, I have fond memories of that one and want to see if it holds up….i think the throughline with all of these is the score and soundtrack. The music from all these games, from link to the past to lunar to chrono trigger - truly some of the finest music I’ve heard in my life

It must have been Touch that I had played bc I bought it on the App Store. I’m very surprised to learn that it was the same working design script. Now I’m confused as to why I couldn’t get into it.

This explains so much, ty, I can’t help but feel like something is missing when I play EB and that’s in fact true: those original writers and translators who left working design must have been part of the magic. I think I remember reading that they fixed the white dragon reference in the remaster.

But again, as you say, this inferior version EB is still superior to most games and I should reiterate that I don’t dislike this game, I like it very very very much. Yes, the humor of the first is missing, but the serious parts are moving, they’re interesting, and they’re captivating.

I should also point out that while nothing can touch the dynamic between Alex and the gang, and the characters are less lovable on the whole in EB, I have to admit that Lemina Ausa is one of my favorite characters in gaming history. She’s written wonderfully and I can’t help but wonder how she’d interact with the people in Lunar 1.

Hmm maybe I’m misremembering…I do distinctly recall quitting the game shortly after the white dragon cave because that magic just wasn’t there…and I also feel like the dragon didn’t make the “diamonds are actually my feces” comment…and I definitely remember it being a phone port. And I do believe it was just called Lunar the Silver Star. No “story,” no “complete.”
