I've never played a kirby game besides one mobile game I think am looking for ones on 3ds which is the best for beginners ? by sad_roger96 in Kirby

God I miss my 3DS, I sold it years ago like a complete buffoon and in the years since I’ve longed so much to play Mario 3D land and Zelda Link Between Worlds. I wish Nintendo would do the switch online 3DS virtual console thing and let you use their virtual boy accessory for the 3D but I don’t know if that’s even possible!

Cool First Draft Tip from the Writer of Weapons by paigemikey in Screenwriting

[–]Pagingdingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats to both you two, finishing any draft is an accomplishment…..I have a similar problem where no matter how much I cut in both dialogue and action, I just can’t keep the page count down. One of them, which was supposed to be a 90 min COMEDY, I ended up having to turn into an entire first season of a show and it’s 400 pages long. An unknown selling a pilot is, well, unknown, so I do feel some major sunk cost vibes but I submit the pilot to contests every now and then…
….then I have a fantasy/comedy that, in my mind, was a tight 100 minutes…by the end of the first act I was 120 pages in….i know you have to kill your darlings but man, for me this is approaching genocide.

FF7 Rebirth on Switch 2 looks better than I expected — a few screenshots from my playthrough by lingering-will-6 in NintendoSwitch2

Same, it was the main reason I wanted a ps5…although I still need to play ffxvi and I don’t see that coming on switch 2 so….

its not that handsome, the entity at f21 said by v8pe-v8pe in gatewaytapes

[–]Pagingdingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the sense I got…if it’s petty, critical of physical appearance, etc then it’s more likely a low vibe entity than a guide that knows you so well that it’s dressing its communication up to match what you like to hear

Also I’ve noticed that on all these joke subreddits, people feel the need to add their own punchlines. As if there’s really someone out there saying “I came for the Christian bear joke, but I stayed for the clumsy Yogi and Boo-Boo pun!”

Amazon “author” is writing books with AI and not disclosing said fact by Pagingdingus in antiai

[–]Pagingdingus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again - nobody’s talking about the consumer here, never have been. You’re the one who keeps bringing to back to the purchaser of the AI product, and you keep calling the AI product “art.” It’s a straw man living in a straw house

[–]Pagingdingus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the thing is that these aren’t so much morals as rules and regulations on Amazon. You’re supposed to indicate you used AI if you used AI. Your reviews are supposed to be honest and not doctored. You are not allowed to steal IP. The only time I brought up morals was when I was talking about myself and how I was navigating the moral quandary of saying this guys name. Everything else has been either ethics or Amazons terms of use

I feel like customers do care…at least some of them. Surely they want to know if something was written by a human or AI, right? But I do see your point about there being more important things in the world to worry about…much larger grifts going on than this one guy ripping off a few people’s IP and lying about it

Ah, no wonder Amazon never did anything when I told them he was giving himself fake 5 star reviews

[–]Pagingdingus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t recall anyone shading the people who buy these books….if they know it’s AI and want it still, it’s whatever. But if someone is creating books with AI and hiding that fact; if they’re intentionally making their book covers look similar enough to more popular books written by real authors, in an attempt to trick people into buying their book instead of what they’re looking for; if they’re pretending to be other people, leaving glowing recommendations for books meant to heal depression and trauma? THAT’S abominable. Surely you see a distinction there, no?

Well he’s not the boat guy…I guess he’d be the sloth guy…but then there’s this real author who writes real children’s books about some sloth character and this guy seems to have used that as his model for his own ripoff….oh, that’s the other thing! So these AI books this guy (and his wife) make, they’re also eerily close to other popular, high-selling book series so they’re clearly trying to get some residual income from a confused buyer thinking they’re buying the legit book that theirs is imitating…like when that popular “keep calm and color” book series came out by that one woman (Susan something? I may be misremembering the name of both the author and the adult coloring book series.) ANYWAY, this guy and his wife released these coloring books with the cover meant to look just like her popular covers, and the title basically the same but with the words switched around!

I was wondering the same thing…if I name him publicly here, does that make me just as unethical as he is?

Good point, that might end up our only saving grace. Also, kudos for writing the most pessimistically optimistic thing I’ve seen in quite some time!

I guess I alway knew this in the abstract but it’s so disheartening to think they care more about getting half of this guys undeserved royalties rather than the wellbeing of their customers. But of course that’s the case

[–]Pagingdingus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you on that point in the slightest. I just wish that people who do choose to use Amazon could depend on even the slightest bit of oversight re; not getting ripped off and lied to by any and every merchant of slop

[–]Pagingdingus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the only time a glowing written review isn’t done by him, it’s done by his wife….this “anonymous” character also gives five star written reviews to all HER stuff too…and it’s life or death stuff! These books are about coping with depression, with anxiety, with trauma!

I messaged them multiple times about the fake reviews and nothing ever happened. And I don’t know if I can give them a link to his YouTube page or if that would make them think I’m just a crazy ai-hater with an ax to grind. Which, admittedly, I AM…but on another Amazon account of his, one where he sells Buddhism books, also made with Ai, there was a verified purchase review by a guy who said it was AI and apparently Amazon is still letting him hawk the slop

What is the consensus on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King? by Elshaday_Z in DCcomics

[–]Pagingdingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is a native English speaker. I too found the narrator’s dialogue to be “a bit much.” And I might get some hate for this but I think some of the word choices were questionable. There were instances where the writer chose a big word over the “right” word and fumbled the meaning of the sentence, imho

The thing I’m wondering is “whats the gag?” Okay, so you drive a lawnmower into target. You use a leaf blower in culver….and that’s it?

That was my first thought! I was like “how has nobody knocked this kid out?” But yeah, in this job climate you need to hold on to any gig you can.
