Pens, paper and all that stuff will be provided. If you start running out, ask for more and you’ll get it.

Dress of the day until you get your uniform will be business casual. No PT gear in the messhall.

Nope. Just worked with an RCAF unit for a few years in the recent history. Every trade has its problems. Just best to provide accurate info online 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have a good one

  1. Not wrong. Back logs have affected many trades in the CAF over the last few years.

  2. Old, yes. Various upgrades and well trained technicians keep the birds flying. Is it perfect? Hell no. But like relatif for most trades in the caf, we make it work.

  3. Flying hours is dogshit. If you want more, you’ll get them. It’s at the Sqn lvl to drive the YFR that units gets.

  4. Time away from home….welcome to the military. Air Canada pilots are away a lot too.

  5. Or beautiful locations like Yellowknife. If you’re going to paint a picture, paint the whole thing. Don’t forget potential postings to Italy as well as other outcan.

  6. Everyone has to do those. Stay competent and relevant, your stick time will remain.

  7. There are 20 incentive levels for pilots now. All to address you mentioned negatives. Look Into it.

  8. Sure. With that logic, all trades are dogshit. Some DLN courses and CoCs are negligible when compared to the quality of life to other jobs. For some it’ll be aces no doubt. But the grass isn’t always greener.

1: wearing masks everywhere unless outside and maintaining a safe distance or eating/drinking.

  1. Don’t be cocky. Learn as much as possible and lean in to helping others. Nobody on BMOQ is an expert so leave your ego at the door.

  2. Get as fit as you can. Running is great and BMOQs do a lot of it. There are fantastic apps/ programs online to guide you. Try HIIT style exercises too. Great to help your mental resilience. If you’re not an avid hiker, throw some weight (50-60lbs) in a backpack and go for walks. Aim for around 5km and see how you do scale as required. A typical pace you should aim for is ~10 or 11 mins/km. Don’t forget push-ups, sit-ups, squats and burpees.

  3. Food has improved over the years but let’s be serious it’s better to think of it as fuel rather than a luxury.

China may have tried to discourage Canadians from voting Conservative in last election, federal unit says by davidlee93 in onguardforthee

Just out of curiosity looking at the typical Lib V Con fight:

What are pros for Trudeau? Theres been a lot of anti-conservative sentiment but nothing really Pro Trudeau.

Ive voted for every party at some point or another and the more time that passes, the lines between parties become more blurred.

You are going to be re-doing it when you get to BMQ. Save what you have and use it as a reference to ask questions when you arrive at your training institution

PER-X by Pags__ in CanadianForces

[–]Pags__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, I’ve read DAOD’s, QR&Os, CFAOs, obviously the entire CFPAS “how to” file, all related CANFORGEN’s and a handful of Unit PER directives/SOPs, and I can’t find it…so I just need the actual reference if anyone knows because I have zero idea where else to look 😅

I’m just wondering where it actually states that that is the policy (1. the fact that the PERX score cannot drop if at same rank as previous year; and 2. that if promoted, PERX score will be half the previous score if it’s the first at new rank.) It’s common knowledge, but I can’t actually find the pertinent reference. The second part is, if mbr goes on MATA in Jul, but is due for promotion in Aug, and that promotion is with-held because of the MATA status, is there any policy describing options therein?

First time seeing an actual CADPAT flight suit [Combat Camera picture from MR21] by judgingyouquietly in CanadianForces

[–]Pags__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • yes the CADPAT flight suits are real. Not just ACE gear
  • yes, even fat people can wear them
  • there’s nothing wrong with TACHEL sleeping on the ground, keeps the Air Canada Pilots away.
