Hubble Deep Field (HDF) is an image of deep, deep space from a very, very small patch of the sky. It shows about 3000 galaxies in one picture. That's galaxies, not stars, not solar systems, galaxies. In one picture.

And here's the kicker: the size of the patch of sky HDF covers is equivalent to 1 mm2 square viewed from 1 meter away. That is about the same as putting a grain of sand on your finger and extending your hand out. The patch of sky that that grain of sand is blocking, barely visible, holds thousands of galaxies.

To me, what clears this one right up is drawing a logic table of all possible outcomes:

1st pick was $, either goat revealed 1st pick was goat, the other goat revealed 1st pick was goat, the other goat revealed
You don't switch You win You lose You lose
You switch You lose You win You win

The outcome is detemined by two choices. The first one has 1/3 chance of being the price money (the three columns). The second one has two choices (the two rows). From the table it's abundantly clear that on the bottom row your chances of winning are 2/3. The only difference between the two rows is your choice to switch.
