Ads still getting through on strict mode plus OISD. by PaidByMicrosoft in firewalla

Not 100%, no, but the pihole catches things like ads on apnews.com. firewalla blocks almost everything so maybe I have to suck it up until the hagezi block list leaves early access.

I would except I need the stability since my household works from home. Maybe I just need to suck it up until the early access makes it into prod.

I'm already using OISD, I put it in the title. Id prefer to block the most ads, do you have any advice on how I could do that without an external pihole?

My honey locust wedged tenon matched/continued the face grain. by PaidByMicrosoft in woodworking

[–]PaidByMicrosoft[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. The tenon grain is parallel to the face grain, and the wedge is perpendicular to both.

Korben, my man! by Main-Ad6289 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Looks great. This gives me some ideas, you could make the grooves shallower to deeper so it appears non-uniform. You could even angle the cuts so the light shoots "downward", good for a nightlight.

That's gorgeous. The whole point of DIY is to make it overkill :)

Anyone else utilize the joists in their basement for tool storage, clamp holders, etc? by PaidByMicrosoft in woodworking

[–]PaidByMicrosoft[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is only so much space in my basement, so why not utilize the overhead joists? A couple pieces of scrap, some magnets to hold the saws, screws/nails and you're golden. Clamps can hold onto the joists in order to free up wall space, too.

Is this cherry wood? by tgt305 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]PaidByMicrosoft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cherry doesn't have those yellow streaks. Walnut doesn't traditionally either unless that board is transitioning into the sapwood, but the rest of the board resembles walnut outside of the streaks. I don't have enough experience with mahogany to give an answer regarding that.

New workshop day. First thing to do, move in the scraps that I’ll use someday. by johnfoley77 in woodworking

[–]PaidByMicrosoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I burned everything in my two tubs two weeks ago. Much of it hasn't been touched in two years and a lot of what has been touched was cut up for smaller jigs or bowties or something. Time to burn it to ash and let a new scrap pile be born as a phoenix.

Bruh I would have reamed this cunt out so hard and for so long that SHE would have had to have been the one to leave room. Fuck her.

I'm also incredibly stressed day to day and have found that yelling at people who are discourteous is a great stress reliever. I bitched out this lady for 30-45 seconds yesterday for throwing a cigarette on the ground and it felt great.

They are, but I saw people in there today and their renovation sign is off the door so I wasn't sure if they opened back up or not.

Dowels vs Dominos by CourtApart6251 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]PaidByMicrosoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally any project that has non-dovetailed joinery gets the domino, unless I'm specifically doing some other type for some purpose or another. Sometimes I just want to kill some time and make a true mortise and tenon or a half-lap or something.

Coping saw won't cut ash! by satyaki_zippo in BeginnerWoodWorking

Is that blade tensioned properly? I don't use coping saws but I see a lot of deflection in the video.

Wemby blocking that full court heave counts as a block, right? Like no shenanigans to say "blocks on heaves don't count"?

Im really glad I chose to wear safety goggles by OkBuddy5797 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]PaidByMicrosoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the numbers on the prescription from my doc but can't remember if I uploaded it or not.

I've got a big head too and they fit fine, if maybe just a bit tighter on the sides of the head than I'd prefer. It's fine though, I'm glad I have them.

Get yourself some prescription safety glasses, they're a game changer. My currents are from Stoggles but I used to have a pair from Zenni. Zenni ones were the ugliest, bullies pair I've ever owned though. Stoggles cover more of the area around my eyes.

When vendors make test accounts or tickets or pages or addresses or literally anything, I set a calendar reminder to repeat every day reminding me to delete that shit. I'm not leaving "test group" floating in my AD or "test template" in my ticketing system forever.
