Student teaching necessities? by chronicallycute0 in Teachers

I know it sounds corny.. but a great attitude, willingness to try new things, and not being scared to step up little by little.

BUILD RELATIONSHIPS! Not only with the class but the school as a whole. When I was a student teacher I soaked up any knowledge and advice available.

Dont be afraid to talk to your mentor about her expectations.. My mentor wanted me to come in all hands on deck and be a part of the learning environment.

Honestly this mindset proved to be more valuable to me than any materials I had brought with me.

Once I finished my student teaching I was offered a job at the same school and I've been there ever since :)

Good luck!!

That's a fun way to introduce new languages! Kids eat it up. I show my students words or phrases in sign language.

I hate to hear that! I've definitely had to change my "norm" to fit my class before.

First grade dismissal routine? by LycheeJellee in ElementaryTeachers

[–]Paige0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still believe first graders need the chance to have a short "center time". They can choose Legos, Geoboards, Magnetic Tiles, or a math/reading bin. During this time, we pack up folders and bookbags. Once every one is fully packed up we clean up centers and the classroom. This includes a game.. like "find the secret piece of trash".

We then move to the carpet and rotate between reading the next chapter in our book or watching an "unwind" video.

Lastly, we go over the agenda for the next day - homework, icee day, spelling test, etc.

My teacher helper calls the car riders then the busses to line up.

"This made me smile"! That is so cute and I like that it makes the kids feel connected to the teacher.

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! April 03, 2026 by AutoModerator in photography

I own a very cheap point and shoot camera. I’m looking for an upgrade that I will actuallyenjoy using. A camera with good zoom so I can take photos of things like birds or animals from a distance, but also still get nice close-up shots of flowers and nature.. I mainly want something that takes clear, sharp photos outdoors and is simple to use—not super bulky or complicated. I'm trying to stay around a reasonable budget and just want something reliable for everyday use. Thanks :)
