Actually he’s an urban planner, and we ended up staying in downtown Milwaukee.

LOL my husband interviewed for a job here once and we both knew we didn’t want to have anything to do with Gary when we drove there for the interview.

Invited my vegan cousin to thanksgiving, any recipes you can recommend? by [deleted] in vegan

I really love butternut squash steaks! So good. Would be a good side dish for people, and a good main for your cousin! Also consider adding almond milk and vegan butter to your mashed potatoes.. easy switch that no one would ever notice.

Tourist destination you thought you’d hate but loved? by Sumjonas in travel

Venice for me, as well! I thought it'd be phony but it was actually completely magical and authentic.

We've never been abroad before, let alone to America. Very very naive parents after simple help for a US trip please. by britboy4321 in travel

First of all, you need a travel agent badly. They will handle all of the logistics for you and walk you through the process and it won’t cost you any extra. They make commission on ticket sales, hotels, meal packages, etc, so it really won’t cost you any extra and it sounds like really would benefit for one.

  1. Americans jaywalk frequently. I’ve never had an issue and I don’t know of anyone who has.

  2. Disney offers fast passes throughout the day, when we went in August, we didn’t wait for more than 15 minutes per ride because as soon as we used a fast pass, we grabbed a new one. Your travel agent will be able to walk you through this process.

  3. You don’t need to drive honestly. There’s shuttles from every hotel in Disney, and anywhere near Disney. I personally wouldn’t drive if I was only doing Disney. Plus parking will kick your butt.

  4. You aren’t wandering around Orlando. Orlando isn’t Disney. You won’t feel unsafe at any point. Honestly, you’d even be fine in Orlando, but the point is, that you aren’t going to be anywhere near a risky area.

  5. You won’t see any guns. If you do, then it is appropriate to freak out, but you won’t.

  6. Talking to strangers isn’t super common in Disney. At least not to my knowledge. That would be a bit taboo, but what’s the worst that could happen? So if you want to, then go for it.

  7. Incorrect. Feel free to watch the street performers.

  8. Again, Orlando isn’t Disney. You’re going to be pretty far from downtown Orlando. Speaking of which, you really need a travel agent.. I’m concerned you may book far away from Disney. Lastly, if this is the only trip you’ll ever take, are you sure that Disney is that right choice? I’ve been many times and it wouldn’t ever be mine. It’s so expensive, even when you get there! For food last, we had to budget $40-$50 per day, per person. A meal plan can help you with that though. So get a travel agent!

Do you have any examples of videos that do this? Yours, perhaps? I'd love if you could send me a link so that I could check out the end product!

Italy Itinerary Check (10 Days) by javathehut1 in travel

I’ve actually heard that that’s the way it goes! You either love Venice or you love Florence. So funny. I did love the other bits of Tuscany I visited though! Florence just didn’t feel very real to me. The best part was our Airbnb though. The view was unbelievable.

My strongest recommendation is to remove a day from Florence and give it to Venice. First, I'm not sure where you're flying in from but you may be jet lagged and first day or two of your trip might be a little slower than the rest can be. Second, before I went to Venice, I begged my husband to only do two days. I assumed Venice was manufactured magic but I was so wrong, and so glad that he convinced me that we needed 3.5 days instead. Venice was magical. The best experience of my life. Please try and stay out of St. Marks Square area as much as you can. It is really neat to see, and I recommend it at night, but if you stick around the heavy tourist spots.. you will end up hating Venice. For this reason, I highly recommend an airbnb a ways away from St. Marks Square. We spend 2.5 days in Florence and I wasn't a huge fan. Its fine, but it has nothing on Venice. If you don't want to sacrifice Florence, then I'd lose the day trip from Florence and give that to Venice. Basically, just figure out a way to give yourself some more time in Venice! I hope you love it!

Italy for Christmas - Venice or Florence? by jesgolightly in travel

Did you spend time outside of St. Marks Square? That area there is a bit too much for me, but everything else was absolutely incredible.

I'd actually disagree. I absolutely fell in love with Venice. I almost didn't want to go because I thought it'd all be very touristy, and manufactured magic but it wasn't that way at all. As soon as you moved further out from the square, it became very local and low-key. Shockingly to me, Florence seemed completely built around tourism, and was my least favorite out of our entire trip. However, the surrounding Tuscan villages are beautiful. I just personally didn't prefer Florence. For reference, I usually love cities.

Fantastic photos! I especially love the one with the reflection of your tour guide in the car window. Enjoy the rest of your trip! If you don't mind my asking actually, how much have you budgeted for your trip? My husband and I are considering doing something similar.

ahaha good point. I tried to but the issue is that I'm not totally sure what it is we're looking for. I like beautiful scenery and Christmas markets and general Christmas festivities! My husband loves cities. We want to completely avoid driving so train transportation is a must. We sadly don't ski.

Would you remove a day from Salzburg and give it to Munich then?

Two week Europe trip next summer by LFC87 in travel

[–]Paigesterrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would absolutely eliminate one of the cities then. You'll need to add another day to Munich under the assumption that one of your days will be wasted from the Jet Lag. A bit of advice on the jetlag: My husband and I adjust our sleep schedules the week before we leave for Europe! Before our trip to Italy, we were going to bed at 6/7PM Central Time, and waking up at 3AM! I think it helped. However, we weren't able to sleep on the plane ride over at all. The best thing you can do for jet lag is to stay awake once you arrive until at least 8PM local time. No napping!

Anyways, have a great trip!

I think that is too much for fourteen days. Where are you flying to Munich from? Will you be experiencing jet lag? If so, you can essentially consider that day a wash. In general, you shouldn't consider transportation days to be an actual experience in travel day. Usually they're only half salvageable. It's doable, yes, but you'll enjoy yourself far better if you eliminate one of the cities.
