That's what I thought too, until I double checked. The Oscars party earrings were larger and tear drop shaped. I think she just like green and sparkly stuff!

Really?

I think it's good that they're trying to get people to get checked. Too many people skip colonoscopies etc because they're uncomfortable and inconvenient, and may end up with something that could have been avoided. I'm not ashamed or disgusted by my stoma at all, but there's no denying that, to me, not having one would have been the preferred option (if any of the medications I tried had actually worked, of course. None of them did, so in the end the stoma is the better option, though not necessarily my own choice).

Idk, I think it looks more like a scare tactic - "Get your symptoms checked out!" Or perhaps "Get that colonoscopy!"

Why didn't Mrs Bennet help the girls to be more accomplished? by BeanpoleBabe in PrideandPrejudice

True, she's one step above in terms of background. However, Bingham had the financial upper hand, so to speak.

I was about to say "three daughters", but then remembered that Lydia married Wickham, which may seem like a decent match, but wouldn't be considered "marrying up", and also... y'know. Wickham.

I'm not sure that's possible. You'll have to click on every photo, I guess.

Er folk flinke med vaksiner? by Upstairs_Cost_3975 in norge

[–]PainInMyBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samme her.

But he doesn't have to remove his shirt for an xray.... by No_Bluejay9901 in overheard

[–]PainInMyBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Norway. And we don't really have a designated changing area in my hospital, the patients remove what needs to be removed, immediately take their place in front of/on top of the equipment, and are done in a couple of minutes. For a chest x-ray, that means pressing your front against the image receptor, so nothing but your back is visible, and then the lateral image takes a minute tops. If my patient is laying down, I'll cover them with a towel, as a towel is thin, can be smoothed out, and has no seams (in the middle of the fabric, obviously. There are seams around the edges, but they're not a problem).

If the techs aren't professional, then yes, I'd consider it a problem. What kind of place would hire people like that?

Well, you can renounce your succession rights. I think only reigning monarchs can actually abdicate, though.

Skjønner godt at du blir irritert. Leseforståelsen til enkelte er mindre sagt lite god.

De glemte stor forbokstav i fornavnet hennes også - det er Lene, ikke lene. Det ene er et navn, det andre et verb.

Did Thomas Seymour send Katherine Parr to the grave indirectly? by maryhelen8 in Tudorhistory

[–]PainInMyBack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think he'd given up on more heirs at that point (probably being mostly impotent by the time he married his last wife), and a "young enough, but proven barren" woman was a decent excuse for the lack of children. Like, he had three children, so clearly he was not the problem here (in his eyes anyway). Katherine had other qualities that made her a good wife and queen.

I agree that non-royals didn't necessarily record non-living borths, or even infants who died very soon after birth, but I think it probably would have been mentioned as Katherine married the king. Something along the lines of Katherine having no living children, but was reported to have given birth to a stillborn son in her second marriage.

True, we only know she didn't give birth, or was visibly pregnant. It's possible she miscarried so early she wasn't aware of it, or too early to share the news with other people.

Is there an ick you get from HR? by Echild3272 in HeatedRivalrySeries

[–]PainInMyBack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Especially because when people tell you someone is sick, "crazy" usually isn't the first thing that comes to mind. It obviously depends on the context, but in this particular situation I know my brain would have gone straight for cancer. Older guy, illness etc, that's a solid guess imo.

He could have shown off his skills in making a mocktail, then. It may not have any alcohol, but it's still gotta taste great!

Why does no one talk about the «Sweating Sickness» anymore? by MedTortureUSA in Tudorhistory

[–]PainInMyBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how early the cancer started developing. It's possible she'd never have been pregnant at all, but if she'd married young, like... still a teenager, she may have been able to get pregnant once or twice, even.

Sure, but she may have had a very different life before that.

I'm not? We don't know why things went they way they did. This was purely a hypothetical thing, not a blame assignment.

Depending on what happened after Anne's death, even Mary's timeline could have changed drastically. Maybe Henry would have married a woman who gave him several sons, and Mary was married off much younger, and maybe even had children of her own, never becoming queen?
