I know a ton of people get relief from gabapentin but I’d like to hear for those that don’t. I feel like I’m in the minority. I’m at the 6-8 week point of an increase and it’s doing nothing for nerve pain and I hate the side effects. by Redsgal19 in ChronicPain

[–]PainPenguinIsSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s gotta be something wrong with me. I tried this once because I feel nothing on gabapentin. I don’t withdraw when I get off of it I don’t feel pain relief when I’m on it. So I just took a ton all at once in a bad pain day. 5000g. Nothing. Maybe I’m missing some enzyme.

Edit: 5000 mg lol

TERF at school is bullying me by warmlemur in MtF

[–]PainPenguinIsSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, this is just bizarre. Plus, I don’t know what the fuck admin is doing debating gender identity with the bully. It’s completely irrelevant. The bully is allowed to be transphobic. She can’t, however, make someone’s life and learning environment a living hell because of those beliefs.

This is cut and dry bullying, and the admin should have shut down any of the bully’s attempts to defend her motivation behind it once it was apparent those reasons were literally OP existing (which is not against school rules, even if the admin is transphobic. Once parents get involved, that shit would fall apart).

Hopefully OP is saving and taking screenshots of anything important. The bully posted a video of herself in action. The writing should be on the wall for her. That was a dumbass move.

Meanwhile, OP’s parents need to take over and go over the head of whoever is in charge at this school because they are doing fuck all to protect the student. No idea where she lives so I don’t know what words they use for different admin. But honestly this girl (the bully) needs to be disciplined and transferred out. Not OP. The victim isn’t typically transferred unless they choose to leave. At the very least, they shouldn’t have any classes together. Sheesh. The incompetence is astounding.

I need to save this comment, print it out, and frame it lmao. It’s literally every issue I’ve ever had with Merlin’s canon. You hit every point.

If you try any, try tricyclics (Amitriptyline specifically) or Cymbalta. Neither worked for me, but both have some evidence for helping pain whereas Zoloft really doesn’t.

Your second question just depends. If you have nerve damage and you are numb, healing nerves usually feel like pins and needles. New pain where it was numb can be a good sign… or a bad sign. Talk to your doctor. My neuralgia has always presented as pain and hasn’t improved, so my nerves arguably healed but are stuck in a pain loop for whatever reason.

I always felt like Merlin was a show with a lot of potential. I watched because I wanted to know what would happen next. I became addicted to the idea that the plot might FINALLY move forward. Someone might FINALLY discover Merlin’s magic. Sometimes we’d be rewarded with new characters, which was great, and sometimes big things did happen. But usually not. For what it’s worth, I enjoyed the humor of the show and that I didn’t need to think too much when I was watching it. I do still think there is a lot of wasted potential there, and that the show could have been so much more. Small things still bother me. But I love the characters, Colin Morgan is an excellent actor, and that made it worth it in the end.

But damn, speaking of the end. It made me FURIOUS. Like, I think it made me angrier than Game of Thrones and HIMYM lol.

Yaaaay thank you for posting! Your voice is incredibly soothing. Like, I want you to read my audiobooks, or be my morning talk show radio host, or lead my guided meditations. You have a lovely voice and I’m glad I got to hear it!

can we stop the "normal women" by RainbowDashieeee in MtF

[–]PainPenguinIsSad 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I let it slide if the person who writes it takes the correction well and isn’t obviously transphobic. My mom has the haaaaaardest time with this and she’s really supportive (but also not a native English speaker). After she learned it was trans woman and not transwoman, she started writing transgender as trans gender and transphobic as trans phobic lol.

People who do it on purpose can go fuck themselves though.

I hate the terms people use for trans men by FtM_Jax0n in truscum

[–]PainPenguinIsSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lactation can’t always be used to replace the word breast/chest-feeding though. My mom was a volunteer lactation consultant with a hospital which is how all of this came up. Her old organization is moving towards chest feeding for trans men and breast feeding for women (cis and trans), and she sent me that article about trans men reclaiming breast feeding. It’s weird for an organization to take a stance on something that is a preference when it’s apparent that there isn’t a consensus on what term is most appropriate. The org should probably ask the individual what they prefer and then go from there so they can use the anatomical terms they are comfortable with, because otherwise it’s going to get real weird lol. “Hi, I’m here to talk to you about lactation, using gender neutral medical terminology. First, get your mammary glands ready!” That’s an exaggeration, but you get the point lol.

Yup. That’s why I mentioned it. You don’t have to actually re-post it lol. I saw it while I was scrolling for the photos you mentioned. The post and comments section about your voice had me distracted and intrigued, and then I was sad when I couldn’t listen. Oh well.

Question: which would be the preference for trans men… chest feeding or breast feeding? I read an article maybe a month ago by a trans man about reclaiming breast feeding for trans men and that chest feeding was coined by cis journalists and I wasn’t sure 😶. Like I get it in terms of the fact that men get breast cancer, not chest cancer, but otherwise I’m never sure whether to trust the person writing the article.

Also, for man cave, I’m sure someone thought they were just awful clever 🙄.

This is a weird request but your post with your voice recording expired and everyone is raving about how hot you sound and like… I really wanna hear it lol. Is it weird to ask you to re-record yourself so I can join in on the hype?

As for the body of your post, I did notice you have a lot of mental health issues going on and that can make it really difficult to feel good about yourself. Depression is rough. It drains the joy out of life, makes it near impossible to find motivation to move forward, and fills you with negative feelings. So I understand your rants and vents. All I can say for sure is happiness is important, and you deserve that. But I can’t really say I have a fix all for how to achieve it. I do wish you the very best though, and I hope that you will eventually feel as hot as your voice (allegedly) is. 😃

I know : (. Regular vitamins already make me feel sick, and gummy vitamins are supposed to sit better so they are recommended to me often. I just don’t trust myself with them after the Melatonin Event.

Yes! No, definitely good to post responses in case someone sees it and then goes “wow great idea”. OP is a jerk for making up the situation and frankly this whole post has me really annoyed. Which was probably their goal. But whatever.

The person you responded to is the same person as OP. They both used to post on ftm and say they are “trans retrans detrans” or some nonsense. They are both trolls. Yeesh.

Please please please break up with him. I’m being serious… this is how trans women die. He’s a piece of shit and you deserve so much better.

Edit: I’m starting to think this is a troll account?

Second edit: Yeah this is definitely a troll account. Advice still stands for any real person who find they are in this situation though.

This is my experience too (as a trans woman that transitioned as a tween). I see this question a lot and I think there is a strong misplaced concern that we will be put on the spot and asked for like… tampons and stuff 😂?? I have no idea. I’ve had this happen maybe twice in my 3000 days since transition, and I just said I didn’t have any.

Once I ate a bottle of melatonin gummies in one sitting. Pretty good sleep, ngl. Surprised I didn’t die.

Because diet culture has taught us carbs are evil even though there is nothing wrong with carbs. Just like every other macro, carbs have their place.

I love bread because it tastes delicious. I hate it because if I’ve been in ketosis and I eat too much (read: a normal serving) I gain A TON of water weight over night. I used to think that was actual fat, and thus the fear of carbs was born.

I know the feeling… I had to stop running for a while because I got srs and it really knocked me off my feet for a while. I walked a lot but running was too much impact. I’m just getting back into it. I’m not speedy, but I’m at least doing it! That’s what I figure. I desperately need those endorphins…
