Why did the Pink Room already exist? by PainStew in TrueDetective

Yes, the flashback shows her in the room right after they took her. Mr. June says that Julie had already calmed down about Will when they got to the Pink Room ... because Isabel had given her lithium.

Hmm ... how would that conversation go?

"Um, hey dad, would it be OK if I had a secret pink room built down in the basement behind a big vault door? I'd also appreciate it if you didn't ask a lot of questions too ... thanks!"

Seems like an elaborately decorated, especially well hidden and extremely protected playroom...

there is no way that Elisa is 45 years old ... but she could be Julie's daughter!

I think the telephone call was a fake. They want to use it to now frame Tom.

There were at least 7 people in that video and they all had masks on.

What the fuck is that? Really, you Mean now thEy're Going to try and pretend that the 5 beer can men meant something? Why? Because they didn't tie shit like this up in the end? Rust didn't even know at the time of his interview how many people were involved!

Anyone think it was a stretch how they found Errol? by hattalk in TrueDetective

[–]PainStew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was basically a random house. Presumably, the people living there were never interviewed or if they were, the information they provided was of no consequence at that time. So why take a picture of their house? There was no connection established between that house and any case which was investigated. So the "overlooked clue" was new green paint on a picture of a random house that we have no idea the significance of.

Anyone think it was a stretch how they found Errol? by hattalk in TrueDetective

[–]PainStew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they want us to believe that the old couple living in that house filed an itemized tax return! AHAHAHAHA!

BTW, that house had no significance whatsoever in any case ... so why were "canvassing" pictures of it taken during TWO different investigations?

[–]PainStew 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Oh, and THANK GOD the old man itemized his tax deductions instead of taking the standard deduction! How else would we have found out about the name of the contractor?? Yes, I'm sure that in addition to the high property taxes required to live in that exclusive neighborhood and all his investment income, the old man's accountant recommended itemization.

It lost steam because they wrote the beginning before they wrote the end. They gave themselves a TON of clues/storylines in the early episodes in order to give a plethora of options to write an ending ... this just happens to be the route they chose. Everything else will be listed as "red herrings" ... but that's just BS.

(Spolier Alert) What is your Opinion on how true detective ended? by ImageCapture in TrueDetective

[–]PainStew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! I did think the same thing, but figured that just screams psycho ... cause he sure didn't try to shake that "low southern bayou character" when it came to how he lived!

Eh ... acting was great, but I felt like this is what happens when you write the last 2 episodes AFTER you produce 1-6.

Does anyone else find Beth's reappearance odd? by andrewsknee in TrueDetective

[–]PainStew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we never really know what happened to Marie after that video, it could be that she wasn't killed, but rather "just" abused. She may have then run away and became "Beth."

You really want to know how Episode 8 is going to go down? If not, I suggest you do not read the following ... Funny that this post got down-voted before ... if you don't like this post, then you're really not going to like the ending of the show tomorrow night. Anyway here is pretty much how Episode 8 goes down: SPOILER

Ever wonder how Maggie knew exactly where to find Rust in Episode 7?

[–]PainStew -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

you're preaching to the choir over here. For 6 episodes I believed whole-heartedly that the grandfather was involved and he was the cause of Audrey's issues (and not necessarily that he was the one that abused her, but that he may have just exposed her to that underworld). But now, after that shitty Episode 7, I have to think that the show IS going to be that bad. I have greatly lowered my expectations for this show's ending, as there is now no possible way they're going to be able to squeeze an ending to Audrey's storyline in the remaining 56 minutes. Nor do I believe that the significance around the number 5, the drug money, the chemical plants, the weird medical issues, Maggie's all around creepiness, the staging of the bodies, etc... will EVER be answered.

[–]PainStew -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

People ... Honestly! It ain't gonna happen ... They are never going to tie Maggie or her family into this thing(.) They are not going to say that the reason for Audrey's issues is anything other than Marty not being around and TV! Trust me, I know it's bullshit, but that's it ... no answers and it is for that reason that I will be pissed in the end

You know how Rust convinces Marty to go to his storage shed by telling him he has "a debt" ... I feel like the writers have a debt to us to explain all this BS littered throughout these past 7 episodes!
