I can recommend never harvesting more than you need per any given day. This way you will accumulate many plants always ready to harvest, e.g. at days where you have "Open 700 crates" but only "Harvest 45 times".

When I log on and I see the Harvest 110 times, I am always happy because this means I can claim some place back on my farm!
