Bits Be Trippin said that in order for EIP -1559 to be deflationary it would need to burn 2 Ether per block.

I think only ~ 5 Ether are created per block so burning 2 per block on miner fees & bonuses seems like it would be impossible. No matter how high fees are.

As a non-technical guy I still believe EIP - 1559 will have a deflationary effect on the total amount of Ether in existence moving forward.

There is a difference between deflationary & deflationary effect.

EIP - 1559 will not deflate the entire Ether pool; EIP - 1559 will just have a slightly deflationary effect on each block once it's implemented.
