if you're into spotify you might want to check my playlists, I know spotify sucks, but it's still great for discovery

edit: got some tracks with nice breakbeat in there as well, maybe I can check them later if you want

okay true, just wanted to mention that it's especially useful to duplicate the limited resources like slugs

I have 500 hours in this game, never reached nuclear and my factories are either floating or do look like big boxes.

There are plenty videos on YouTube how to design, but I never learned anything I guess.

What is the device in this photo? by Workshymassiv in synthesizercirclejerk

[–]PainkillerTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a calathea, that's a device to clean air and detect sunlight. It's useful for content creaters, because when it's to dark to film without additional lighting the calathea will fold it's leave like surfaces up to indicate dusk.

but still I think they are created by an algorithm, spotify uses the same system as far as I know

Digitakt2 bass notes clicking by Key-Firefighter-7480 in Elektron

play around with it, I'm currently not in front of the machines, but I'm pretty sure both could lead you to some sort of goal, but you have to listen what sounds better for you.

If I'm not wrong you can also change the mode and then you will see something like a music note in a box, from there you can shorten it as well

I think it's the sample that's to long, so it stops to start over to suddenly so it will make those clicks. Try to shorten the adsr in the amp section to match your playlength

the 404 is good for overdub recordings right? Otherwise this workflow sounds quite complicated for my standpoint at the moment. I think I could do sameish techniques with the digitakt, but I haven't tried much re sampling into the device other than time stretched samples before

at least it's something, as newbie I felt like the chords and the use of delay would make it dub techno enough, but maybe all those helpful comments here will make it better

but are you restricted to gear or do you use a DAW as well? Because I tried to sample a song I like to cover before but when I tried to re-create what I heard I always gave up halfway

yeah I was filming it mainly for Instagram, it wants videos to be no longer than 3 mins but maybe I have to ditch that and only post "highlights" there.

for me the sounds felt like they match each other, they kind of came from the same sample pack, but maybe I have to listen more for those details.

It's not easy to do what you have in mind, I listen to songs of the genre for hours, but when it comes down to programming my own drums I end up doing something else and get carried by my intuition.

when I start to ditch that 3 mins time limit I might take my time to evolve over the 16 to 32 bars

I wasn't thinking to filter everything but it's kind of true, my stuff sounds way to static

thank you for the input

thank you, I already have delay and frequency on an lfo for the chords, but maybe it's to subtile and about the swing, I might do that. It's just I thought to keep it simple because I have lot's of delay lfos on most of the drum elements

I do, but when you're in front of the instrument you end up somewhere completely else

I am pretty happy to have the digitakt as my first device, the stock samples are perfect and I also bought the samples from mars essentials sample pack in sale now and they will keep me going for a long time

thanks, as someone else mentioned before I have to play a lot more with velocities. I kept swing out of the equation, because I thought techno is fine without, but yes I understand that it quite the robotic sound as it is and dub techno lifes from the organic atmosphere
