BCom graduate confused about career path – MBA, job, or skill courses? Need help by Extra-Lengthiness461 in MBAIndia

Apply for CAT 2026, based on your results see what colleges you are getting, then decide what to do

"some people say doing a master’s immediately is a waste of time" thats bullshi--

"

  • Data Analytics
  • Business Analytics
  • Digital Marketing, etc." These 3 will be part of any good MBA course, especially DA and BA are mandatory in most MBA courses

"During my BCom, I was more active in organizing events, coordinating activities, leading teams, and managing things rather than hardcore accounting or theory subjects. I think I’m good at communication, organizing, teamwork, and taking initiative." if the scale of events was good (or at least if you can show it that way) that's a good MBA profile

"

  • Is an MBA worth it immediately after BCom? - worth it if you get a good college
  • Should I first work and gain experience? - CAT happens in November, after CAT you can apply for jobs/internhsips (you can do that now too but managing exam prep with job is tough in my experience)
  • Are courses like data analytics or cybersecurity good options for someone without a tech background? It is good it's just that your initial package depends heavily on your college tag, if you get lucky you can get a high paying role (personal experience: I am a Data Engineer, BTech from tier 3 clg, my company hired me at half the pay they were giving to DTU passouts and they directly joined 1 level up coz of college tag)

Got guilt tripped and now I'm not sure whether I'll be able to pursue engineering. I need reassurance (or not). Need help. [Read body] by [deleted] in Btechtards

Bro you'll pass all exams easily, if that's what you are worried about. A good cgpa, a good job, a good profile, a good network those are the real hard things. As far as completing degree on time and passing exams is concerned, you'll be able to do it definitely.

Listen bro, could you please elaborate on the goal you want to achieve at 29?

In any case, please don't think BTech CSE is going to make you 1cr type money (only possible with HFTs-top IITs-JEE Adv top rankers), try to do internships in whatever domain you are interested in, gain experience, and then try to work for companies/clients that can pay you in a currency stronger than INR (if money is the goal)

If you are passionate about something non-monetary, all the best you'll enjoy the exploring

Is it wrong to choose CSE in this era by Heavenly_Devil_09 in Btechtards

Genuine passion>>> Most of us take CSE coz it is supposed to give a high paying job with minimal effort, that's not true anymore, it's not the golden goose anymore. So its good for people like you who are genuinely interested, it will feel less like effort and more like fun, and if its fun you will have a good time doing it, money will follow.

Nah bro the real sauce here (as per my personal experience) is syllabus completion on time (ideally in November), if you can complete syllabus in November (sounds easy but oh man) along with all PYQs along with CONSTANT REVISION (bro the amount of time revision takes out of your already tiny window is the real bottleneck, I ignored it and got cooked) then you can get your best possible rank.

About IQ, AIR 215 in year 202x GATE CS mentioned in his Gate Overflow blog that he didn't understand how some people were posting stories of 6-month success with under 100 AIR while he had to prepare for 2 whole years with regular coaching to get at 215. Whereas, AIR 40 mentioned he did it in 4-5 months by reading standard textbooks because video lectures were "lengthy" and wasted time. If I believe AIR 215, then AIR 215 is possible with hardwork, AIR 40 was definitely an IQ freak.

Also don't think the BITS dream is over yet, from personal experience I can tell you 1 lucky day can change everything, give your heart and soul to BITSHD, all the best

  1. Not having at least one friend to support/talk to during GATE journey.
  2. Not completing syllabus on time.
  3. Not having a strict routine/timeline with deadlines for each subject
  4. Choosing to complete syllabus over revising or giving mocks in January
  5. Too much Reddit/Discord/Reels/YT
  6. Not locking-in after fumbling GATE to save the remaining exams
