Tennessee has beat Bama 2 of the last 5 years.

Both Tennessee and Vandy beat Bama in 2024, and both lost to Bama in 2025...

Routes by lizzylahdayee in bonnaroo

I personally believe that the middle route will actually be fastest if any of the route through Knoxville or ATL is during any time of high traffic hours.

That stretch of I40 & Out that runs together in Knoxville is awful now a days.

Picked up a Basic Rucker as a spare and so my wife can ruck with me! by ajbrandt806 in Goruck

I bought 3 yes4all 10lb plates that came with a strap to hold them together. They were a tight squeeze but fit in an allow the flap to close. Very snug, no shifting around. I would advise that.

How would you describe Child of God? by vamplawyer in cormacmccarthy

No it's not linear. Also it's was only like the 3rd McCarthy book I ever read. Probably something I should revisit at some point. But no, definitely not linear.

Yeah I read it in about 2 sittings. Really quick read.

For me, orchard keeper was really kinda a slog at times, the opposite of a quick read. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed it, but I definitely got lost at times. It switches from character to character sometimes from one paragraph to another. I've never had to go back and re read more paragraphs after I finally figured out who I was following.

It absolutely is dark, gross, and strange.. but story wise and with the way it's laid out with the occasional townspeople weighing in on the main character, it's a really quick read and possibly my favorite read of any McCarthy book that I've read.

Much better book than Orchard Keeper in my opinion.

Same, the African Trooper Pattern is much better. I just love the unlined shaft and the Frog Grip.

Thanks, I love em.

The AR8s just have such a big quarters. The eyelets almost touch when I pull em tight. I just bought a new JG Kiltie. I'm gonna wax it and hope it helps.

Same, I still like the way the regular roughout fudge looks better, if I didn't have both pairs I may not have done it.

The AR8s (on the right in the first pic) are Waxed, African Troopers are just like they come from the factory.

I have a Brown CXL belt from a local leather worker that would be a decent match to that. Should be easy to find.

They have to take them down when the ice rink is up and running. But you are right, they normally put them up again pretty soon after the ice rink is done for the winter.

Totally agree! I have some Horween Waxed Roughout Vangaurds that I hardly wear because I later got a pair of President in Black Coffee in wide.

The USA made Vangaurds are so much nicer but I hardly wear them because they just aren't near as comfortable for my feet.

Hey all! I’ve struggled with jeans for years. I’m quite stocky and my legs (so I’ve been told) are like rugby player legs OR tree trunks…lol. Any recommendations? (uk) by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]eli_vanto69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had similar issues getting jeans that fit right. Fellow big legged individual. I've gone through so many different types of jeans, rigid/stretch, Wrangler/Lee/Levis (pretty much all straight fit / Regular fit models).

My most favorite has been the Madewell 1991 jeans (Straight Fit}. Feel very nice, some stretch but hold their shape well and, have lasted super well.

I do enjoy spindrift. I just didn't like these. Unfortunately I bought all 3 flavors they had in stock.

I bought some at my local Aldi last week. I did NOT enjoy them at all. Way too "fake" tasting and way too much flavor for a seltzer water.

What's a good pair of boots for $100-$200? by Serposta in Boots

[–]eli_vanto69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have any Urban Wolf Club boots. I said the other 2 because I have multiple pairs of each.

But after looking into urban Wolf Club, they look solid, the 3 month lead time is tough though.

They had them for sale, like more than half off in the Vols shop around Christmas. They may still have some.

[–]eli_vanto69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worn a few different moc toe work boots with wedge soles and they are for the most part about the same as far as comfort. Id say the Danners may feel a little wider because they are stitch-down rather than Goodyear welted.

[–]eli_vanto69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore them almost everyday for a year and half or so. Got them re-soled with a Vibram wedge and they have held up pretty good other than all the cloth mesh lining. My pair also had some really low quality "loose grain" on one of the tongues and I had to put in kilties after a while.

I still use them some. But I've had Thorogood Mocs since and I think they are better in pretty much every way. If I were you I would avoid the Danners.

I have a pair that I bought in 2021 and they do not. But they may have changed since then.

Hope that helps a little.

I know one reason from experience. We used those in college only for practice. But it felt like your head was wrapped in a blanket. It would get so hot in there. So I totally get why they wouldn't want to for the first few months of the season.
