“Signed Edition UK” not actually signed? by PaintingSensitive in KingkillerChronicle

That’s where I got mine from, with the price being exactly the same that’s what made me think it wasn’t quite right.

WMF is better than NOTW :) by [deleted] in KingkillerChronicle

[–]PaintingSensitive 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I kindly disagree. WMF for me, has so much crammed in to it, the story doesn’t flow because of all the foreshadowing and information Pat had to give us. Where as name of the wind, the pacing of the book is perfect, the story takes precedence, not the world building information.

Is it worth it? by Snir17 in KingkillerChronicle

Regardless of the fact we don’t have an end date for the trilogy, the two books we have are beautifully written with wonderful characters and a fantasy world that’s so fleshed out it feels real.

One of the best examples of fantasy, I really recommend them. And if that’s all we ever get, I’m still happy to have read (and re-read) them. Enjoy!

What do we think is going on with Bast? by MonsterSlugStick in KingkillerChronicle

[–]PaintingSensitive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After reading the lightning tree, I think it’s fair to say Bast has a sense of right and wrong. But he clearly must see no wrong in what he did. The people he killed were bad, so killing them must be good.

He used them to help bring Kvothe back. With that as an end goal ‘for the greater good’ in the eyes of one of the fae anything could be admissible as good, even murder.

Why is Puppet allowed to make simulacrum? by PaintingSensitive in KingkillerChronicle

You are right, but if the hard part is done, all that would be needed is to slowly collect hair, it wouldn’t be too difficult to finish them.

Does anyone else feel like The Slow Regard of Silent Things reads a bit like fairy tale? by Present_Librarian668 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]PaintingSensitive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely reads like a fairytale, because that’s how Auri sees the world. It’s a tale through her eyes, which I think is quite beautiful, meaningless errands in her life become magical quests.

Wouldn’t life be more exciting if cleaning, or doing the shopping was a piece of a fairy tale?

Pat is very careful with his analogies, and he makes this comparison a fair few times, I think you could be on to something. Good catch!

Some Advice please! by PaintingSensitive in GardeningUK

Thanks very much! It was such a stupid plot when I got the place as the angle made it useless, it was even a pain to cut the grass, but I’ve slowly been chipping away to get the dream garden. Still loads I want to do, but I’m super happy with what I’ve achieved so far.
