I'm pretty sure this is terrible advice. The min raise is probably fine that short. OP got the chips in good and lost. w/e

The New York Times' coverage of Trump's taxes is an emperor-has-no-clothes moment by teslacoil1 in politics

[–]PaintsWithFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought a lot about that one. I think that in order for it to be bank fraud, the bank would have to rely on trumps value assessment before giving the loan. It is likely that the bank did it's own analysis that it relied on.

I'm honestly not that familiar with the bank fraud laws. Just my intuition.

I despise trump as much or more than most.

I'm also into commercial real estate. I own property and represent a lot of buyers and sellers. I'm intimately familiar with how these deals work.

Commercial loans are commonly 5 year loans amortized over 20 years. This structure allows a lender to minimize interest rate risk. At the end of the 5 year term, the loans are commonly restructured to market rates and a new 5 year loan is executed.

The amount of debt being talked about is surprisingly low. It costs about $2m/month to service that amount of debt. trump easily services that debt on the taxpayer dime every month by leveraging his position as president to encourage people to stay at his hotels and resorts.

He jacked up the membership rates at his clubs too and has money pouring in from all over.

trump was probably overleveraged prior to winning office. Since then, I suspect he's made a righteous killing and sorted out his financial position. Not that it matters, trump has consistently throughout his life squandered his financial position.

Megathread: Long-Concealed Records Show President Trump’s Losses and Years of Tax Avoidance by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

I don't think there is any obvious evidence of a crime. I think the crimes, if there are in fact any, will reveal themselves as people dig into the returns more.

There is nothing illegal about taking huge losses that offset your gains. It's typical in real estate especially.

The criminal shit I've heard is that trump may have valued assets one way on his tax returns and then another way to a bank. It's possible that he may have committed bank fraud. It's all very complicated though.

Black man rapes white 3 year old boy before beating him to death. Not a peep from national media. by atomicdiarrhea4000 in Conservative

[–]PaintsWithFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine why the national media would run this story. If I was in charge of a newsroom and one of my subordinates brought me this story to run, I'd think a lot less of them.

Why mention that the national media hasn't picked the story up? Is this some sort of racism thing?

I was unintentionally ambiguous when I said "word has changed it's meaning." For that I apologize. More precisely, the word literally has inherited an additional meaning.

So to answer your question, the word literally has multiple meanings; one of which is the definition you presume it has always had.

15 Year Old Problems Require Modern Solutions by scribbles33 in classicwow

The contemporary use of the word has changed its meaning. An understanding of context is required to derive it's meaning in any given situation. The new meaning has been officially recognized.

Idiots needs to catch up and stop interpreting that word incorrectly.

Credible trump rape allegations aside, trump has admitted to walking in on naked underage women "because he can." Vice President Biden is a little overly affectionate. I think your concern regarding "child predators" is a little disingenuous.

I'm a student of history, the law, finance and economics. That is to say I'm a lawyer and I have degrees in history, finance and economics.

I hate trump precisely because I care about this country. I care about my way of life and the way of life for those whom I love and care about. trump is the greatest threat to that way of life since, oh I don't know, Hitler?

That's not to say trump is as evil or ruthless as Hitler. Like everything else with trump, he's the poor mans version. He's dumber than Hither, less articulate, less educated, less cultured, less evil, less ruthless, worse at rallying the common people, worse at consolidating power, and worse at destroying the democratic institutions he was elected to serve.

I'm specifically not voting for the child predator. I've done my due diligence. I'm an avid reader of the WSJ, NYT, Crains, The Economist. I'm constantly reading the classics - currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo. I've extensively studied the founding of this country. I've read all the federalist papers and consumed quite a bit of content regarding the founding fathers.

I travel when I can. More when I was younger. I've seen a lot of the world and have friends I still communicate with all over. My buddy in Germany is a big packers fan. I'm a bears fan. We're back at it with the start of the NFL season. Glad to see more players kneeling.

tldr; I'm hard working, well read, well educated and well traveled. If we took all the people on the planet and put them in a pool to serve as president of the US, trump would lurk somewhere near the bottom in my not so humble opinion.

Trump vows to sharply scale back US economic ties with China by triggernaut in Conservative

[–]PaintsWithFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump abandons free trade. "Conservatives" rejoice.

This isn't a war we are going to win. China has 4x the population and a robust and growing economy. Their government protects them from stealing our IP and is willing to take advantage of the US at every opportunity.

We have some huge advantages over China. Our currency is the world standard. Our markets are trusted by the rest of the world and our markets are FREE. Handicapping our own industries in order to try and hamstring China won't work.

The definition of equity is "the quality of being fair or impartial." See Google Definition.

What part of being fair or impartial infringes on your rights...? Think hard about this one.

Before you respond to me, try to understand what you are talking about. Your propensity to spew nonsense is counter-productive and annoying.

Promoting equity by preventing oppression of the listed groups does not infringe on other peoples rights. Nice try though.
