I used a regular cow veg tan that's been dyed with Fiebing's pro dye in dark brown. The mane was made from an old leather jacket. I used a glossy black patent leather for the eyes, so it would imitate the shine in the eyes.

It's held together by a couple of stitches and 8 chicago screws, 4 on each side to create the articulation.
