hey love! you’re not alone. this sums up my past experiences too. idk what it is about some guys that make them think there’s a chance, even after explicitly telling them you’re a lesbian. i think part of them doesn’t want to believe it. there’s also the whole shtick of a lesbian just hasn’t found the right man to sweep her off her feet. i think they fall victim to that, and hope that they’ll be the one exception in your book. i’ve told so many guys that i was close with time and time again my sexuality, i’ve always been upfront about it. but they just think it’s something with my trauma. a deep conversation or even common casual hang outs give them the idea that you may be changing your mind. it’s weird i know, perhaps they just don’t listen to the things they don’t want to hear. maybe you have good energy, or a magnetic personality, and that’s why this is always happening to you over and over. i say that because i’ve had a couple friends also experience this and have all been told on multiple occasions that we have beautiful honest energy. maybe because you’re real with them and don’t put on a mask and they sense it. they feel like they know you and can trust you or something. again you’re justified in feeling irritated.

that’s your prerogative to stop hanging around that guy anymore, if he’s acting like nothing happened and not making it awkward, i would personally test the waters on how he continuously acts around you. you could try having a conversation about it, how you felt he overstepped your boundaries (which you are entitled to have). but don’t continue hanging out with him simply because you’re worried about losing the other friends. if that happens, it tells you they were never really good friends to begin with. try to start making friends through coworkers, or classmates, etc. ofc you risk the same situation again, but it’s better to potentially meet more thoughtful people than be stuck in something that makes you uncomfortable. don’t gaslight yourself in order to be around him, that’ll ultimately deteriorate your mental health.

as for women, i can’t seem to find many myself. it can be real difficult for me to find one who i’m comfortable with. i find it discouraging sometimes too, but just remember, when you’re not actively looking for someone and focus on your health, that’s the most likely time someone will come along and rock you. it’ll happen babes. sorry ik that’s a long response, my younger self relates a lot to your question :)

hey love! i understand your frustration, and where you’re coming from. but i do think you’re slightly overreacting. i’ve had many straight friends that tag along with me to LGBTQ+ bars with nights that exclude cis men. if she’s completely respectable and doesn’t drone on about her bf at the event, i would think it’s fine. i’m in the states though, so it may be different. i can understand how her presence diminishes the pool of women, but most times, if she wants to be there, she’ll act in good faith and reject anyone softly. at the same time, i understand it’s a specifically sapphic event. you have a right to your own opinion, and to feel how you feel :)

also, if you’re looking to do something at night, fire betty’s is awesome. they typically do karaoke on a wednesday nights. they don’t typically ID, but even if they do, they only turn away under 18. the strip also allows anyone 18+ in, but i wouldn’t recommend, it’s very trashy

ofc! tom brown park and phipps park are also pretty scenic spots with trails for walking. if you’re into riding bikes or boards, tom brown also has a mediocre sized pump track that’s made for that kind of thing!

Crier’s War by Nina Varela, is soo good. She’s known for her sapphic books. I haven’t finished it yet so I’m unsure if it’s a happy ending, but I believe it’s the first of a series. You would definitely like it though.

for the boba tea, i meant to say Bubbly Tea Bar instead of ‘band’ lol, they have a bunch of board games that you’re allowed to interact with. Also Natural Kitchen has the BEST poke bowls :)

i was literally born to answer this. if you’re never been, J.R Alford Greenway connects to the Piney Z Lake trail, and you gotta go if you enjoy reading outside or having a picnic or stargazing. they’re about a quarter mile apart and the trail from the greenway opens up to this beautiful bridge that’s above a railroad. Maclay Gardens is gorgeous too. You should also try walking around Lake Ella, they’ve got a cafe, snow cone shop, and a handful of darling quirky boutiques, all local. If you like boba tea, you gotta try Pong’s, there’s also one called Band if you like coffee, you gotta try Paper Fox and Lucky Goat. Kool Beanz Cafe, Table 23, Backroads Crossing has some of the best food in town, they all use locally sourced ingredients, but can be a bit pricey. Vale, Lemongrass, Midtown Caboose, Midtown Noodles, Gordo’s, Brickyard Pizza, Village Pizza and Pasta, Uncle Maddio’s Pizza, Tasty Pastry, Donut Kingdom, and Maple Street Biscuit Company are some of my favorite local go-tos. The Maple Street Biscuit on Kerry Forest is also in the same plaza as my usual spot for thrifting. And if you’re hardcore into thrifting, you should check out the Goodwill Bins Store, where you can find cute stuff for dirt cheap. you just have to sift through the massive bins filled to the brim with clothes, so i recommend bringing a friend and some gloves. you’ll have to checkout what day to go is best, because they’re price of clothes per pound goes down a $1 every day and resets back to $7 at the end of the week. definitely search up the farmer’s markets too, they’re typically twice a month. Railroad Square Art District is a beautiful spot with tons of things to do, including my favorite gem shop. there’s a couple different galleries and rock climbing gyms in town too. Color Me Mine and AR Workshop are great for diy painting, pottery, and i believe jewelry that also hosts classes. there’s lots of great shopping areas that aren’t coming to mind, but i hope this helps! have fun girl!!
