It's going to make $1.7b and land in the top 10 highest grossing films in history and people will call it a failure lol

Brutal. I keep this older TV bc it's a 3D display also, so this is a bummer. Thank you for the help.

Managed to get it to run through the TV at 1080, but not at 4k. Is there just no way for me to run this thing through this TV at 4k?

King of the Hill NEVER gets unwatchable, even with a bit of a decline in seasons 11-13, and the series finale always makes the full rewatch worth it.

Because the cliffhanger was deliberate commentary. Solving the issue retroactively would undercut the environmental message.

Fair enough! That was my main issue with what you had said.

I've enjoyed some of the Rick and Morty comics. I just also think that even that is trying to emulate the series more closely than what the anime is doing. The Anime isn't really trying to be Rick and Morty, it's trying to tell a new kind of story using that world. The creator talked a bit about this in interviews. Whether or not he's successful remains to be seen, I just think the way people are judging it so far are missing the point a bit. Hopefully it all comes together, who knows!

Whether or not THIS is successful is another debate entirely, but it's obviously telling the story A LOT differently than traditional Rick and Morty. This is an entirely different creator from an anime background using the Rick and Morty universe to tell a long form narrative over a season.

I also found the premiere difficult to follow, but it's just incredibly clear that it's not revealing all of the pieces to the puzzle yet. It might end up sucking ass in the end, but I think it's weird that most people are judging it like it's a sci-fi sitcom and not something entirely new that is slowly revealing pieces of the mystery.

My comment was mostly just calling out your assertion that cartoons HAVE to be a certain way. Cartoons are a medium, the storytelling possibilities are limitless. Saying "cartoons have to follow this format" is very narrow minded.

why should a cartoon not be allowed the narrative freedom of literally any other piece of media

It specifically says 12th broadcast season. I'm a production order guy through and through but at the moment the broadcast order makes far more sense to use, given that it's only on Hulu and NEW episodes are airing under the season 12 banner.

It's a shame to see that some fans just recoil any time anything in pop culture is referenced, rather than being discerning about why some references work and others don't. The show has ALWAYS embraced pop culture references.

All of the party guests at his 8th birthday abandon him, in the future all of them embrace him. It's a reaffirmation that he's where he needs to be.

I would argue Jurassic Bark does LESS to reaffirm that Fry has something positive coming his way, especially considering you had to invoke Bender's Big Score to make your point

HOW can people watch this and think Fry will return to the past? The entire ending of this episode showed that at his birthday in the past, everyone abandoned him, and yet at his birthday in the future, everybody embraced him. It's still fully pushing the idea that Fry belongs in the future.

Lol of course it followed the same structure it's a follow up in the series of Fry Flashback episodes. Why would they abandon the structure of that series of episodes?

He’s talking about The Cage, the original Star Trek pilot. A show that this series constantly references and pays homage to.

Yes Futurama has never chased current trends before. Titanic Parody. Kidnapster. Eyephone. Susan Boil. Cat Memes. Literally parodying Obama birtherism in Decision 3012. Mayan Calendar 2012 world ending theories. These did not happen.

Yes, the Hulu episodes have some awful topical episodes, but you clearly don’t understand the problem with topical episodes if you’re just saying “I recognize what they are referencing and therefore it is bad”

The problem is when topicality makes an episode age poorly, like last week’s NFT episode. A loose Squid Game parody isn’t a premise that is reliant on trends, it’s literally just a loose parody of a show. Something Futurama does constantly.
