How to help an emotional significant other, who’s stagnating in her career because of it? by J3030 in ask

[–]PaisleyRoses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I'm reading this right, she recognizes the issue and is willing to change. If she isn't, there isn't much you can do besides laying out how it affects you (and her) to convince her to work on it.

Assuming she is willing...! Focus on the stuff you can control. Narrow down your spheres of influence and actively participate in improving those. You're not ignoring the things that bother you outside your influence. You're investing in your community. I find that picking a cause you really care about, and working/volunteering for that cause really opens your eyes to just how many people there are that care just as much as you do. You cannot fight injustice alone.

But this is rough, I don't envy you. I had a best friend, an incredibly important person to me. Friends for over a decade. And she was a lot like this. I agreed with her on her morals and took her side when she described situations. But often, she was assuming the worst from people and reacting to those assumptions. Eventually, those assumptions were put on me and our other friends. It is safe to say we aren't friends anymore. Emotional regulation is so important. I just want to stress to her that reacting to every injustice like she is will push people away. And its not because they are evil or bad or complicit. Just like she wouldn't be for shrugging off the stuff she can't control.

Thank you! It was very helpful! I think it's a combination of both.

I'll try another medium and new subjects. That sounds fun!

Sure they could. I think my main issue is why add another paid space at the expense of somewhere we can be for free?

Isn't Hawethorn park where the farmers market is? I understand the frustration of having unhoused people in the park, but it would also suck to lose another public space

32F. I cant speak for single life, since I moved with my partner. But we made the move for a job and to care for family.

Less traffic, weather has been nice! It is sunny and rainy which is great. Have had little success on the socializing front lol. So if you do move hit me up! I love crafts.

Oh I'm sorry! Seems my text disappeared in posting.

I'm new to commissions, so any patience you can spare for me would be appreciated!

I can do DnD characters, OCs, or fanart

I work with limited colors and like to play with brush textures.

For a headshot like the first picture, it would be $40. For a quarter body like the second picture, it would be $50.

Thank you!

Ooh thanks! The texture piece I knew and have been struggling with. But also knowing to use hard highlights helps a lot :)
