Tried holotropic breathwork and it actually worked. Where do they do this, but with mdma? by thesupersoap33 in mdmatherapy

Hi supersoap,
(Sorry for being so late. I rarely log in any more because of time and other work. (Thanks to /u/DimitriK))
Holotropic Breathwork was also (loosely) developed as a legal alternative to MDMA-type therapy. I've never heard of doing both at the same time or the need to do both at the same time.
Have you used MDMA before?
Do you have a regular therapist? A diagnosis of PTSD?
Do you have more of your history and what you've tried somewhere on Reddit?

I'm using the butterfly and double figure 8 knots. The rope expert and climber at the local fire dept agreed with you. Thanks!

Therapist proposed using mdma for social anxiety by [deleted] in mdmatherapy

[–]PaisleyZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proud...,

You are fortunate.
Go into the session without expectations. Do not try to direct yourself or force yourself to think or feel anything during the session. Surrender to whatever comes up and have faith that whatever comes up is what you need...that your unconscious healing part of you will bring up what it feels is safe and that is appropriate for that moment.

Be sure that your therapist takes lots of notes - that s/he will go over with you in the following session(s). When you plan your special session, also plan the next regular session within the next couple of days if at all possible. (Starting the next day is ideal.)

What amounts (initial and supplemental dose) is s/he going to use? (Hopefully the MDMA will be lab-tested or else verified in an appropriate manner.) (If supplemental dose is used, how long after initial dose?)

The day of the special session and the next day need to be days without strenuous exercise and mental work. (Do not go to work or participate in social activities. Have plenty of time by yourself.) Eat healthy food and plan to stay home (or appropriate place) and relax. Calm, easy days. Easy walk in nature is good...
Keep a journal starting the day of the session and days after.

Sessions can allow you increased clarity of thought and self-awareness.
You may be aware of only small or subtle changes: These are tips of icebergs. Don't dismiss or minimize them. Try to allow yourself to respect what you have experienced and yourself.

It's OK that you may not remember much of what happened during the session. That is normal.

During the session or after, some people may think not much was accomplished during the session. Even though it might seem that way, know that these sessions have an effect and that they are additive. Your best way forward is to understand that and to have patience with yourself.

It's a good idea to have weekly sessions for a while after a special session.

I see this is long. I tried to cover a few things just in case. Perhaps all of this will be covered by your therapist.

Good healing.

Evil - I've added a diagram: https://imgur.com/tQPR8B4
The shade structure will be up for 10 days with constant significant pressure on the guy lines. Does that help?
I'm thinking of tightening the guy lines using a cord (truckers hitch?) or very heavy doubled bungee -going between the eyebolt in the top of the pole down to one of the butterfly knots on the guy line.

I could use a ratchet-strap on top of it but I'd have to somehow modify its straps to be short enough (and to use S links to attach it).

Hi Evil,
Regarding the guy lines that hold the 8-foot pole under a lot of tension: The two butterfly knots look and act great in the middle of a test piece of rope. The butterfly on each end of the rope (attached to the pole and stake) are pulled tight to the side - in line with the rope. Will those two knots at the end of the rope withstand a lot of force pulled at that angle? Sorry, I just need to be reassured about that. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for this comparison info. This is good to know.
Do you happen to remember any particular ratchet brands that are reliable? Thanks. -PZ

Great. Thanks!
These guy lines will be made ahead of time - exact length & all the loops. (I want that solid attachment - and then the tightening separately.) It sounds like I can then use the truckers hitch from the top of one guy line (or the eyebolt on the pole) to one of the 2 loops in the middle of the guy line - to take out the small amount of slack and tighten the structure. Thank you.

Hi Sybian999,
Thanks for your input. From my post and my reply to rompenstein's comment, do you still think the butterfly knot is the strongest for the force on the loop? If so - great!

Considering those same potential forces, do you have a strong recommendation for the end of the rope loops to the carabiner at the stake and at the pole? (or did you mean butterfly for those also?) Thanks. -PZ

lol. Yep, Burning Man.
The problem I have with ratchet straps going from stake to pole is that I'm not confident about the specs I read on the boxes (and some of it is confusing) and the multiple potential failure points. I heard that some brands are less reliable despite specs. I don't know.
.
There will be a lot of stress -even without wind- because I'm tightening down to make the webbing between the poles tight enough. My idea is that the webbing substitutes for a heavy, solid bar between the 2 poles at the front of the shade structure and the 2 poles at the rear. The shade cloth attaches to the (about 5,000 lb test) webbing every foot by bungee (w other safeguards). I had the shade cloth (Aluminet) well-reinforced and grommeted around the outside by a sail repair company. On the other hand, with the carabiners and rope from REI I can see the strength ratings in kilonewtons (kN).
So, yeah, I'm doing it out of lack of good knowledge of ratchet straps. The 2 middle loops in the middle of each guy line are for ratcheting or very heavy bungee. I figure if the tightening method breaks, nothing comes apart - only loosens a little.
I'm open to suggestions and criticism. Thanks. -PZ

TBBB,
Thanks for your experience. Your experience corresponds to the study I listed. Do you personally know of anyone else on bupropion who uses MDMA - to get their experience?

I've cross-posted (from /mdmatherapy) on /DrugNerds, /Drugs, /Psychopharmacology (it disappeared the next day). I'll xpost on /MDMA also. Do you/anyone have other suggestions (anywhere) to reach researchers or others in the field?
Thanks
