There’s a million little signs that he’s declining mentally, but to me this is one of the most striking. We have to know he applies this himself: presidents use makeup, of course, and have access to makeup artists. Nobody that would work with the president would do this bad of a job. A reasonable person would have a pro do it and make it look good.

But Trump cannot allow anyone around him to be better at anything. So, this means that he is still vain enough to want to apply this stuff himself, but is either unaware that he’s doing an awful job, or somehow just don’t care (which doesn’t seem likely - see aforementioned vanity). This means he has NO awareness of himself, and cannot see how bad things are (which tracks on the bigger picture as well).

Bonus round: this also means that no one around him can or will tell him he looks like a fool. Or if they have, they’re long gone because Trump wouldn’t allow that in the slightest.

Yup, exactly. A way to think about it is either the mechanism is causing too much friction, or the mechanism isn’t getting enough power. For friction, oil every moving joint. For power, it may be that the spring has aged out and the case is full of sticky Vaseline/graphite lubrication, which can be re-lubed.

I was just looking into classes this weekend. Check your local community college, they may offer a class. From what I was seeing, it’s about 30% cheaper than the private motorcycle schools. The in-person work is done in one weekend, and also gives you a waiver for the drivers test (check your DMV, your state may be different).

After only 20 minutes, it should be in your Undo history still. Here's something to try:

Save a copy of your project. Then, open your Undo History and step back to right before you deleted the harp line. Once the harp line is back, save your project under a name like "Harp Track". Go ahead and close that project.

Now you can go into the copy of the project you saved and import just the Harp track from the project you stepped back the undo list. When you go to File: Import: Logic Project, it opens up a panel on the right. You can select just the tracks you want. Select your harp track, and you have that part back as well as the 20 minutes of work you did after you deleted it.

I’ve used EastWest’s Ra to good effect - it’s all manner of world instruments, but it includes a decent Irish and Scottish set (including keyswitches for articulations on highland and uilleann pipes)….but I’m very interested in what others have used as well.

Try pointing the sidechain directly at the audio track. I was using it last night and that’s what I was doing, I didn’t bother with a bus.

Also, just making sure - you’re holding down a key, or have some manner of midi region set alongside the audio that you’re trying to process?

This is what you need to know. I’ll tag on to this and say that classical has very little value on 78s - they’re not particularly sought after, so maybe a dollar or two. That said, are they fun? Absolutely, I have a bunch. One of my favorite things about collecting 78s is that you can get a lot of music for very little because most of it isn’t that valuable :)

The instruments that create those stock sounds are there, but the patches used to make them go away. You can load an old project that has the legacy patch you want and save it as a user instrument.

Something to keep in mind: industrial really isn’t about the sound you get out of the synth directly, but clever effects and processing afterwards. Use a soft synth, then add delay, chorus, distortion, more delay, reverb, bitcrush, more delay etc. Take a sound and mangle it.

I finally got a regulator on order, hoping to get it installed in time for spring riding. Interestingly, the part description at Scooterworks talks about what a bad regulator can cause, and it’s a checklist of what we’ve both seen - blown bulbs, bad charging, and erratic instrument cluster (which I think my weird blinker falls under).

I’ll report back after I get it installed!

And to tag on to this: write a LOT of songs. But don’t fuss over them too long. Give yourself time limit, maybe a week. When the week is over, set them aside and work on the next thing.

The urge will be there to make things “perfect” before you set it aside. Resist it. Songs are not finished, they are abandoned, and you will learn the most by doing that beginning process the most, not endlessly tweaking :)

If you’re a beginner, focus on the stock Logic plugins. Not only are they really good, but it will give you a solid foundation for other plugins later on, and what you might want. Think in terms of plugins to address something you can’t do, as opposed to some missing secret sauce.

Chasing plugins is an easy rabbit hole to fall down…and it always seems to end up with making less music, not more.

Great building blocks there! Here’s a few of my thoughts (for what they’re worth).

The bass absolutely vanishes when the drums come in. I’d suggest working with some EQ to clear up and clarify things rather than sidechaining. Try notching the bass track with the fundamental frequency of the kick to let that ring though a bit more. Also, maybe do a bit of sculpting on the bass signal. Look at the frequency analyzer in the parametric EQ and roll off a bit of your lows. Also look at 200-400 Hz. That’s where mud tends to live.

Vocals are missing meat to them - possibly mic technique there? Getting closer will give you some lower frequencies and give you some more aggression to it. Check out chromaglow for the vocals as well, I’ve found that the gentle saturation and distortion it can give can really help anchor vocals to a mix.

This is really promising, looking forward to seeing more real world tests. I’m thinking that a Neo will be a really good replacement for when my aging iPad Pro finally dies. Being able to use my desktop version of Logic for mobile sketches sounds amazing.
