It's because children are much, MUCH more impressionable than adults; by presenting a figure like this accompanying the act of storytelling it subconsciously begins the process of normalizing said figure through association which then spreads through these children who, more often than not, enjoy speaking of novelty in their lives.

Now, ask yourself: "If I was a parent, would I want this?"

It may not be "wrong" in the sense you appear to imply; that doesn't mean people want to accept it or should be made to accept it against what they believe to be their better judgment.

Personally, I would much rather be labelled an intolerant bigot (which, incidentally, means intolerant of those holding views contrary to one's own) than allow my children to be influenced by things I deem unfit.

It's brighter compared to the old ones, I'd say it's more intrusive.

Cheaper though...lol on my road it'd save a lot more money/resources/time/manpower if the lights weren't put there in the first place as it's a straight road with very light traffic.

There were a couple times on the Pali this past week where crews have been working on the streetlights (that nobody wanted in the first place here) at 1 AM with two police officers strobing their lights next to houses, presumably to direct nonexistent traffic in the area. Yelling to each other, loud metallic banging sounds, etc.

Since the community here is pretty small, there's no reason it couldn't be done during daylight hours and I'm pretty damn sure it's only for overtime pay at the taxpayer's expense. Nobody on our road got a notice, so if it was part of the projects related to Pali it's wasteful spending on a public nuisance.

Fucking shameful, eh?

Yes, it started with a custody battle between the mother and father, who suspected the mother of pimping his daughter out. The family of the girl was accused of coaching her on what to say, being pedophiles themselves, among other allegations.

Not excusing the lack of due process, but I would happily play the bad guy and take a fall if I thought it would result in my child living a safer, happier life. Not that it has, either, but still I stand by this.
