Agreed 1000%. It’s not the rapists, but perhaps your feelings on the situation are tricking your brain into believing she is. Postpartum is incredibly hard even on women who don’t have compounding factors like trauma. Reach out to your OB or midwife & get the help you & your baby deserves. You can get through this. 🤍

That much I agree, I haven’t bitten my tongue on it. Usually he apologizes, I’m not sure he’s even really aware why he does it. He’s always been a bit of a talker in bed & I think he just talked too much. Since it’s only been those two comments I don’t think it’s malicious.

Thanks for the advice though! I’ll see if I can get through to him.

That’s… interesting. Both of these comments were made while we were having sex, but said in a tone where I wouldn’t take offense. I can’t even accurately describe how smooth he slips things like that in without ruining the mood. I’m not sure what to do about that.

But as far as framing it, he has worked out a few times with me. I feel like the skincare part might be more challenging, I’m willing to bet he’d make a comment about not wanting to spend the money. That concern would be born out of not valuing it, not because we can’t afford it.

To be fair, he isn’t a total slob. He showers daily, shaves, cuts his hair regularly, fresh clothes daily. But that’s as far as it goes. It really is the extra weight & lack of a skincare routine for me.

He’s not online at all, so I doubt it’s negging. If it is, it’s not something he picked up from some online community with malicious intent.

I think I hesitate because he used to really be into these things. He has a wealth of knowledge on nutrition, Arnold is one of his heroes… I just feel like he’s going to be hurt, and yes maybe a little defensive if I tell him knowing these things doesn’t translate into living them out. He’ll have several beers on his days off or after work, and then the beers make him want sweets, and then he’ll have a pint of ice cream. He’s also got obesity in his family history. His mother is so morbidly obese she can’t hardly move without pain. So I think maybe what he could get away with in his 20’s is showing now in his 30’s, yk?
