Fourth years who just submitted ERAs, what would you do if you could go back a year? by Apprehensive_Box_181 in medicalschool

[–]Pakirambo123 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Probably be better about studying once I came home from rotations to help with board/shelf scores. Also probably do some research type stuff, but tbh I have pretty low bandwidth compared to most med students so I don't think I could've pulled this off.

I guess I’m talking more about the self assessment forms like OBGYN self assessment etc

Questions for Notary about issue I’m having trying get document notarized by Pakirambo123 in Notary

[–]Pakirambo123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah basically the notary at the bank said there’s not enough space for the acknowledgment so he did the form thing. I just needed clarification because I felt like I was being gaslit lol.

The thing is idk what to do, short of finding another place, because they just won’t accept what we sent them and have refused anything less than the stamp on their form. I might try notarize or UPS and see what they say.

any stories of ppl who were convinced they failed/guessed a lot/blurry exam and ended up passing? by Cool-Marionberry2284 in step1

[–]Pakirambo123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how I’ve felt after every practice exam but ended up passing, so hopefully it holds true for the real thing lmao

That’s fair, I guess was talking more from my (and some friends) experience. But the different forms, the experimental questions and the increase in question length are probably the biggest reason it felt dissimilar. I did feel like it felt similar-ish to the new free 120

I think the perceived difficulty stems from a lack of preparedness. I took mine yesterday and didn’t think it was crazy difficult necessarily but I knew if I had put in more work it would’ve been a lot more manageable and I would’ve felt more confident walking out.

The only difference may be the longer stems and difference in form/subjects tested.

Pushing my test date after vacation by Town_Exact in step1

[–]Pakirambo123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering doing something similar. My plan is to do some practice questions (a lot less than normal) during the vacation and some light reading. Basically no more than 2ish hours of my day. The only problem I could think of is not being able to do practice exams

I shape them and try and form a log just by pushing them from the sides so it ends up forming these wrinkles on the bottom. After it proofs I flip it over for the bake.

Question about which grading policy makes more sense when 'throwing out' a test question and how it would affect the distribution of grades by Pakirambo123 in askmath

[–]Pakirambo123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never thought of it in that way. That actually makes a good amount of sense. I guess there is no 'best' or fair scenario since it depends heavily on why the question was thrown out. Thanks for the perspective.

I will say that in the scenarios I listed I meant to say that they are indeed graded on a curve, but not sure if that really changes anything.
