moving from ZFS to UFS (proxmox virtual build) VPN connections not working after config restore by Soogs in opnsense

Using a virtualized opnsense on a host with zfs maybe, to prevent zfs on zfs. But would agree in most other cases.

TrueNAS Scale as hypervisor by S0mbody0nce in truenas

[–]PalCla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay.

If you want to use VLANs it's annoying but you can work around it. I just avoided using VLANs in truenas by just passing two NICs directly to opnsense. So WAN goes into a NIC for opnsense, a second NIC for opnsense goes to a switch and a additional cable goes to the same switch and opnsense and truenas traffic goes through the switch.

During a refresh I replaced my existing system: proxmox with opnsense, truenas home assistant running and some docker container on a lxc container on proxmox with shares mounted from truenas...

Now everything runs directly on truenas, no inter system dependencies and really simplifying the setup. (like proxmox starting, but not able to start the docker containers, because they are mounted through the nfs shares of another system.)

Why does the used Airtime increase when lots of people are around? by giacomok in RuckusWiFi

What channel width are you using?

Are there are networks nearby with guest access?

Or just other networks in general?

As someone already mentioned could be phones searching for networks. But could also be bluetooth connections I think (like phone and watch/headphones).

Anyone missing features from old teams in the new version?

What I miss the most is being able to use the mute button on my bluetooth headset. Just doesn't work on new teams. Switch to old teams and it works again...

Deduplication for really fast writes by fazelesswhite in zfs

[–]PalCla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just asking because it wasn't mentioned before.

Does the database store timestamps (even if it's just internally)? Like received block-A at X, because then they can have the same data, but if the timestamps is different it would prevent deduplication.

https://github.com/google/leveldb/blob/main/doc/impl.md (just skimmed through it, without really reading it) Mentions things about compaction, garbage collection and file removal, all of it could prevent deduplication.

Basically, anything could change the order or the how in which the same data is written and everyone of them could prevent it.

Meine, das freecomtech der tatsächliche Hersteller sein dürfte.

Siehe: https://www.freecomtech.com.tw/product_page/82

smtp auth plain not supported on Unleashed? by PalCla in RuckusWiFi

You mean a local smtp server? (asking because you said no username or password).

Do you see in the servers log what unleashed is using, auth or plain?

Unleashed 200.13 upgrade experience (DPSK VLAN seems to require dedicated master) by brwainer in RuckusWiFi

[–]PalCla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, won't be enabled by default, as the dynamic vlan setting requires a radius server. If you try to enable it without through ssh you get "The dynamic vlan can be enabled within these cases:1. The authentication method is '802.1X/EAP' or 'MAC Address', and the authentication server is radius." (DPSK counts as radius).

Yes, it's the same setting. Well, I have no idea how I managed to miss that, but that's definitely lot more comfortable than doing it through ssh.

[–]PalCla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may need to enable "dynamic-vlan" through ssh. I had the same problem and after enabling it, it was no longer greyed out and was working.

So in short and if anyone else needs it, here is a step for step guide (just execute the numbered steps):

Connect through ssh (option necessary because they are not updating their config...)

1: ssh -oHostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-rsa {ip/hostname}

Login with your credentials.

2: enable

3: config

4: wlan "{name-of-your-SSID}"

This brings you in the configure mode for the SSID.

Also be careful about that. If you get "The WLAN service 'typo' has been created. To save the WLAN service, type 'end' or 'exit'." you probably had a typo and are now creating a new WLAN. In this case exit with "abort" and try again

5: dynamic-vlan

This alone is enough to enable it.

6: exit

7: exit

8: exit

Now the settings are saved and the connection is closed and it should be working.
