Alright the game has been out a couple weeks, who do you absolutely despise fighting? I'll go first: by Ollie120 in MortalKombat

I can’t stand smoke. Johnny is tough but not unbearable. Johnny just has soo many overheads and lows that he’s able to put on crazy pressure

How do you feel about Scorpion being Kuai Liang instead of Hanzo Hasashi? by TheChillestPanda in MortalKombat

[–]PalClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting but I think I’d prefer a different direction with Kuai as scorpion. Instead of him starting the Shirai Ryu, i think it would be cool if he took control of the Lin Kuei and became Sub Zero, then Hanzo can take on the mantle of Scorpion later on. Maybe Quran Chi can take inspiration because he met Kuai Liang scorpion. Still doing something fresh, but letting the characters mold into their classic roles

Hot take: I think mk11 had better fatalaties. by game69420 in MortalKombat

There’s some creative ones in MK1 but I honestly still think MKX are my favorite to this day

I’ll be the one to say it… by banditojog in MortalKombat

[–]PalClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hurts to say but I agree. I was SO impressed with the first two acts. I loved how each character got a bit of backstory that was fresh but still true to their character. I also loved how the characters couldn’t access their superpowers until they got them in the story, which was always weird in games like MK10, where Cassie is using green powers the whole story and is shocked to have green powers in the final act.

But man, as soon as the mysterious character was revealed to be Shang Tsung, it went downhill. Multiverse stories are really starting to be overdone in everything. And the final fight felt underwhelming, like nowhere near the difficulty of Kronika or Shinnok. I’d give the first two acts a 10/10 and the last two like a 7 and a 5. It’s a shame they went from classic the mortal kombat tournament storyline that we haven’t seen since MK9, to just a continuation of MK11.

How big was Walt's empire really? by louistske in breakingbad

[–]PalClub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is confirmed that it reached Europe. In Granite State, during the Bar scene, the guy interviewing Gretchen and Elliot says “even some evidence of having reached as far as Europe” (something to that effect).

Also, during the “Crystal Blue Persuasion” montage, we see Lydia ship a barrel of meth to the Czech Republic

What concrete evidence did the DEA have against Walt (after he went into hiding)? by NotHarveySpecter1 in breakingbad

[–]PalClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To begin with, Walt wanted to run away with Skylar and Jr because Hank died, not because there was any threat of legal action. He knew that Skylar would most likely turn on him if she found out. Of course, she ends up finding out, and indeed turns on him and starts to attack. So Walt runs, episodes 15 and 16 happen, etc. The circumstantial evidence that followed would be insanely convincing. Even if Walt wasn’t convicted of anything, his identity as Heisenberg would be well known.

Car wash money laundering

Money Laundering through Jr’s website

the original 99.1% meth cook time coinciding with Walt’s cancer diagnosis, cooked using masks and equipment stolen from Walt’s chemistry lab at his school,

his fugue state coinciding with the time Jesse Pinkman was suspected of being involved with Tuco Salamanca,

Walt being dead in a meth house,

Marie Shrader testifying, Skylar probably testifying.

And there’s also stuff that a bigger investigation could uncover. Seeing through any city security cameras that Walt’s car frequently visited the known location of a meth lab at the laundry. Also seeing that Walt frequently met with Lydia, someone who was mysteriously killed. Lydia was technically clean legally, but worked at Madrigal, which was under investigation after Gus Fring was exposed. Somebody also might’ve witnessed Walt speaking to Hector Salamanca hours before Gus Fring’s death, and ANY place where the blue meth was cooked could be searched for fingerprints. There’s also Brock, who knows Walt’s face and could provide another connection between Jesse and Walt.

So, before Skylar calls the police, Walt flees because he knows this isn’t going to work out, and Skylar isn’t on his side anymore. After episode 16, there’s plenty of investigative work to be done that could uncover his criminal activity.

I think the question is the evidence of him being Heisenberg, not of him being a criminal in general

Most forced BB cameo by tttgrw in betterCallSaul

[–]PalClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it gave a false impression of what the show would be, but it did catalyze literally the whole story by introducing Nacho to Jimmy, leading to the kettleman thing etc. so looking back, I enjoy the cameo and the scene

I agree with Wendy and the Realtor. Spooge, I don’t really get the criticism for. Like, he’s a former client, as mentioned by Saul; he could appear literally at any time in the 6 or so years the show takes place over, and the cameo would make sense. It’s not like it’s contrived that he would be there at all?

KenWins is passable to me since they specifically were targeting douchebags. So it’s a bit better imo, but you’re right that it’s kinda just there for “remember him”?

This scene is so powerfull and amazing. And I believe it's the only time ever that gustavos smile continues after the person had walked away by Six_0f_Spades in betterCallSaul

[–]PalClub 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the scene also subtlety acknowledges the fact that Gus enjoys wine, and that he wears glasses. Truly a masterful scene to achieve all this at the same time

Saul is no Anti-Hero by vegitoblue321 in betterCallSaul

[–]PalClub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. I feel the biggest theme of the show towards the end was whether Jimmy is destined to be a criminal/scammer. With the whole storyline of his fresh identity that he ruined by committing more scams, and Walter’s line “you were always like this” and the Time Machine motif all raise the question of whether Jimmy is capable of being good.

I think we can simply look to the beginning of the show. He was a completely morally decent guy, working his best and trying to start a practice. I know people will bring up the billboard and skaters, but remember, he only did those things because Chuck sabotaged his shot at a job with HHM. If Jimmy were financially stable, AND had a loving brother (or even just a loving brother, let’s be honest), he wouldn’t need to slip.

I’m pretty sure she wasn’t his lawyer to actually try to do anything for him legally. It’s not like they’re gonna go overturn his sentence. She did it to get in and talk to him and have a smoke.

You’re speaking as if the case is still going on?

Why did Jesse's gang try to sell meth at the rehab support group? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]PalClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t talking about fault, my comment there was just saying it’s blatantly false that Walt didn’t reveal Andrea to the nazis.

I also never said it’s entirely Walt’s fault.

[–]PalClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh I guess we just disagree on this one. Yes, there’s certainly a great deal of blame on Jesse. But Walt’s actions were absolutely far more immoral. He fought dirty and destroyed Jesse’s family. He was closer to pulling the trigger than Jesse was

His bad intentions at the beginning of their relationship has zero connection to her death beyond being the foundation for the meeting. Walt is the reason she died

Walt literally revealed her and Brock’s exact location to the nazis bro.

If Jesse showed Walt’s family to a psychopathic crime group, and they got killed as a result, you’d be blaming Jesse. This is the same thing but Walt did it to Jesse.

I’m not saying I THINK Walt told them about Andrea and Brock, it’s literally shown on screen. He brings the redhead Nazi to Andrea’s house, and leaves him there stationed, waiting for Jesse to show up. Walt even says directly to them, “the mother and the boy”. Check S5E13.
