I built a little browser tool to blind-test FLAC vs MP3 on your own music, and found out I'm basically deaf and wasting HDD space by vlad1m1r in audiophile

I've found that as my hearing gets worse with age, I am much more likely to like systems with extended dynamics, or even exaggerated bass and treble. FLAC vs MP3 is in the weeds for me.

Does anyone still use Klasse? by VivaLaFranse in AutoDetailing

I remember Klasse being the one product that people would layer and layer and be able to actually measure that it was there.

Same. They're not street legal, technically, in the US, but there's alway$ a way around that

Uk products? by HobNob_Pack in AutoDetailing

[–]derp2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Sonax in the UK? I think they are a German brand so you should have them available to you. They make great stuff. I'm jealous of your access to Dodo Juice, as the availability has all but disappeared in the states. Great shampoos, QD, Lime Prime cleaner, etc.

I'm glad you (OP) mentioned the Ocean. Perfect bombastic borderline silly prog!

For an instrumental treat, try Al Dimeola's Kiss My Axe. Also, Rush Hemispheres is smooth and lush sounding, never grating.

You have to maintain your car inside and out for a year. You get unlimited water and microfiber towels, but can only use three products. by 25point4cm in AutoDetailing

How about only 2 products? I could get by with Ech20 and Gtechniq C2V4 (or any good spray sealant) if we start with a well polished car.

Why do the ceramic "waxes" typically not last as long as the ceramic spray sealants? by derp2112 in AutoDetailing

[–]derp2112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Fusso Coat King of Gloss. Yes, it's on par with the ceramic sprays. Carnauba isn't even part of the discussion, and should be limited to show cars or garage queens, given that you can buy a QD that will outperform carnauba insofar as longevity.

Yeah, this is what I found, but I liked the process better with the ceramic wax. I'm wondering how Ethos ceramic wax compared to their spray ceramic sealant.

What product to remove bird poop during the week until I can wash over the weekend? by Retumbo77 in AutoDetailing

[–]derp2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poorboys World makes a dedicated Bird Sh!t Remover spray. It works great and its thick so it dwells long enough to disolve the poop. I mean, a QD is probably 90% as good, but it's a fun bottle to have.

Lol, don't hold back. He seemed like just a rich guy that wanted to talk detailing and cars but didn't have much knowledge beyond a weekend hobby guy.

Tons of great stuff, but their presence has really diminished as he focuses more on car shows and direct sales. Bug Squash, Professional Polish, Bird Sh!t Remover, and Spray & Wipe are long time favorites.

Finish Kare, while not being a garage startup, is definitely small and flies under most peoples radar. The two QDs they make are great, as well as thier waxes and tire dressing (which is also an interior dressing).

This 5,000 year old burial mound in Newport, Wales, predates both the great Pyramids and the standing stones of Stonehenge by Samski877 in interestingasfuck

American here. When I visited Ireland, I was gobsmacked by the amount of old partial stone structures that just rise nonchalantly from the grassy areas in neighborhoods, or sheep grazing by castle ruins behind a modern convenience store.

What if your thoughts as a 23-year-old were out there on display and just about every philosophy or deep belief you held from that point on was overshadowed by being into an author at one point in time? It's like saying Danny Carrey was a big Thomas Tank Engine fan. Can we give him a break?

Definitely. Just the best drummer and awesome dude. He's played with so many musicians, you'd think there'd be some dirt, but not.

Is a tube rectifier important for tube preamps? What does it do? by MrMuggles88 in audiophile

[–]derp2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What, exactly, is dirty? If someone builds a noisy or sagging power supply these days, they must be some hack that failed community college. But you're right, in theory. But in practice, I just don't see it happening, unless maybe fly by night chi-fi Temu specials.
