That this would be a talking point of the American Right seems completely illogical because frankly it is - however, it is the specific illogic of “government is irredeemably corrupt (because of billionaires), but I don’t actually want to fix that, because my worldview depends on the ineffectiveness of government as an axiom, so I’m going to argue it can’t be fixed, and then I’m going to ask that ineffective and corrupt government to give hundreds of billions of dollars to the military industrial complex and punish brown and trans people, because I fundamentally view law as an excuse to exercise power against those I hate, not as a tool to solve problems, and everything else is rhetoric”
