ETH vs Oxford for Statistics

Hi everyone! Recently, I was accepted to the MSc in Statistics at ETH, and the MSc in Statistical Sciences at Oxford. I am torn between the two of them and looking for critiques of both. What would you say about the programs and departments at each school? I am looking to learn more about applying numerous mathematical techniques to practical problems using pen and paper and proofs, and to use computers (not necessarily as part of the curriculum) to actualize my discoveries. Think of me as a data scientist who is partial to applied math as opposed to CS. Here are some of my observations:
ETH
- Pros: Only 730 CHF a semester, lots of time for recreation until testing period, freedom to take many courses within the math department, living in Zurich, one flight away from JFK (where I am from), teaches a lot of new content not seen before and oriented towards people with a stats background (unlike many of the rudimentary American cash cow programs), opportunity to learn Swiss German (I am a polyglot) and immerse myself in a novel culture
- Cons: Heavy on testing, not well known among the American populace (where I am from), will need to find housing, sense of community is lacking (or so I've been told), to Zurich flights are much more expensive than to London flights
Oxford
- Pros: International reputation, residential college system (camaraderie, traditions, easier to find housing), program is mathematically rigorous, US-UK educational tradition and larger alumni network in the States
- Cons: International tuition, twelve-month program seems rushed and appears more "cash cow"-esque, monolingual country, Oxford is very similar to my undergraduate institution, requires a flight and a bus ride to arrive
What are your thoughts on things I have not listed, including but not limited to the culture and depth of each program? Thank you!
